Liam Paro vs Montana Love Betting Analysis
The chief undercard fight of Saturday night’s main event between former undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney as he takes on current WBC 140lb champion Regis Prograis, sees undefeated Australian fighter Liam Paro take on American Montana Love in what should be a highly entertaining bout over in San Francisco this weekend.
Paro comes into this one off the back of a destructive 1st round demolition of fellow countryman Brock Jarvis last October, a result that put him firmly in line for a title shot at current champion and headline act Regis Prograis, with an injury, unfortunately, curtailing those plans.
For Montana Love meanwhile, it’s been a much more dramatic last 12 months, with his last fight against Paro’s countryman Stevie Spark ending in a WWE-style disqualification, with Love pushing Spark over the top rope leading to massive controversy and a ton of appeals.
Liam Paro enters Saturday’s bout as the -175 favorite with Montana Love coming back as a +135 underdog.
Paro Looks To Continue Ascendancy
It’s now been over a year out of the ring for Liam Paro after he brutally starched Brock Jarvis inside a round last October in his native Queensland, landing several big left hooks in a row, the last of which put Jarvis down for good.
Whether Paro will get that same chance here against a fighter as skilled and fluid as Montana Love is, is another matter however, but Paro has already shown across his career so far, most notably against Yomar Alamo, that he is a solid all-round fighter, possessing power, toughness (he managed to get up off the floor in that Alamo fight), and high-level technical ability also.
‘Love Hurts’ Looking For A Way Back
After what appeared to be an extremely bright opening to Montana Love’s career overall, with his sole draw against Kenneth Sims Jr. hardly offsetting what was an extremely impressive technical stoppage victory over the very tough Ivan Baranchyk back in August 2021, the 140lb weight class looked to be firmly put on notice as to the arrival of Montana Love to the division.
Unfortunately for Love, we’ve seen some cracks in his game since then, firstly against the extremely durable Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela, with Valenzuela putting Love down in that fight and really turning up the heat late on, only for Paro’s fellow countryman Stevie Spark to follow suit and expose even more holes in Montana Love’s game.
Spark put the formerly undefeated Love down early in that fight, with his relentless pressure after a clash of heads in round six causing an altercation up against the ropes which ended in Love pushing Spark over the top rope and him subsequently tumbling out of the ring, leading to a disqualification.
Appeals were made after the fight but it did shine a huge spotlight on Love’s mental framework in fights, looking extremely fluid and agile when in control and given space, but seemingly coming unstuck at the seams when the pressure is dialed up by opponents.
Liam Paro vs Montana Love Expert Prediction
Liam Paro, despite the long layoff, knows exactly what he has to do here and is capable of pressure-fighting himself, being an extremely versatile fighter in the ring.
The back-to-back Valenzuela and Spark bouts have shown that Montana Love is highly susceptible to folding under pressure in fights, and that fact certainly won’t be lost on Paro ahead of this one as he looks to follow Stevie Spark and turn up the dial here against Love in the chief co-main event.
Look for Liam Paro to potentially cause another early Montana Love exit this weekend over in San Francisco live on DAZN.
