Undefeated American star Jared ‘Big Baby’ Anderson takes on dangerous Martin Bakole this weekend over at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, with both men looking to continue their dominant recent form with a statement win here on Saturday night live on ESPN+.

For Anderson, it’s been a perfect 17-0 start to his young career, with 15 of those 17 wins coming inside the distance as well, but all of that will be put to the test this weekend against his most dangerous opponent to date in Martin Bakole.

‘The Last King of Scotland’ is on a run of nine straight victories himself heading into this one, seven of which came by knockout, so a really entertaining contest is expected this weekend in what could well be the fight of the night.

To reflect just how competitive this fight is, Jared Anderson comes into this one as the -195 favorite at most books fighting on home soil, with Martin Bakole coming back as a +155 road underdog.

Bakole Arguably At The Height Of His Powers

Training under the advanced stewardship of Scotland’s Billy Nelson, Martin Bakole has arguably never looked better across his career so far than he does right now, having his breakout moment coming with a dominant majority decision win in Paris against Olympic gold medalist Tony Yoka two years ago.

That majority decision win didn’t tell anything like the true story of that fight, with Bakole being completely dominant throughout, and since then following it up with two highly impressive early knockouts as well.

At 31 years of age, and with vast sparring experience under his belt against all the major champions as well, Bakole is arguably at the summit of his powers right now, and should be a real handful for the young American star on Saturday night.

Big Baby Looking To Take That Next Step

After signing a multi-fight deal with Top Rank back in 2019, Jared Anderson has been pushed heavily as the next face of the heavyweight division, especially in terms of U.S. appeal.

With former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury speaking glowingly of him during sparring as well, tipping the young Toledo native to take over the division in the near future, things were looking incredibly bright for Anderson.

However, there has definitely been some signs that perhaps Anderson’s not fully committed to the goal of being the best heavyweight on the planet, saying openly that he’s only in the sport for the money, getting involved in shootouts against the likes of Jerry Forrest, and looking less than impressive against Charles Martin and Ryad Merhy recently also.

This is an extremely dangerous step-up fight for Jared Anderson this weekend, and one he’s potentially not ready for.

Bakole can be an absolute steam train in the ring, especially over the first six rounds of a fight, and can hit like a Mack truck as well, so if Anderson intends to fight Bakole like he did Jerry Forrest and Charles Martin previously, he might well find himself in a world of trouble early in this one.

If however, Anderson boxes smart, he’s definitely got the athletic tools to trouble Bakole in this one, who can be a little stiff-footed at times, and should Anderson be able to take this one into the second half of the fight when Bakole tends to slow down, this one could well be there for the taking for him on Saturday.

That said, with this fight being only 10 rounds, and given Anderson’s propensity for a firefight on top, we’re backing Bakole to get the win here on Saturday, and will likely add a KO prop closer to fight time as lines become available.
