O’Shaquie Foster vs Eduardo Hernandez Betting Analysis
New WBC super-featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster will look to make the first defense of his belt on Saturday against dangerous Mexican opponent Eduardo Hernandez, a fighter who is currently on a six-fight stoppage streak heading into this weekend’s bout.
O’Shaquie Foster comes into this one as the -190 favorite with Eduardo Hernandez coming back at a pretty much consensus +150 to get his hand raised in Saturday night’s main event down in Cancun, Mexico.
Foster’s Tough Start In Life Forging His Career
It’s fair to say O’Shaquie Foster’s experiences outside the ring have made him a far more formidable fighter in it, losing his mother at just 12 years of age as well as losing other family members to gun violence down in Orange, Texas, life experiences that have forged Foster into a fighter who isn’t intimidated in the slightest by potential hostile atmospheres in boxing.
After a bright start at an early age to his boxing career, winning national titles and Golden Gloves competitions, the wheels started to come off Foster’s career in the mid-2010s, losing twice in just a one-year span as he was sucked into Texas’ gang culture, eventually culminating in a stint in jail for aggravated assault.
Upon getting out however, Foster decided to turn his life around, moving away from his hometown with a 100% focus on his career, something that has worked out remarkably well for him given his talent level, beating the formerly undefeated Rey Vargas for the vacant WBC belt back in February.
Hernandez Hopes For New Life At Matchroom
Another fighter who has endured his fair share of negative experiences so far in life, Eduardo Hernandez, who suffered a gunshot in his lower back during an attempted carjacking in Mexico City a few years ago, Hernandez is a fighter eager to shine once again and get back to the form that saw him being ranked #2 by the WBC at just 21 years of age.
Contract disputes with Probellum, as well Hernandez’s contract being bought out by alleged Irish criminal boss Daniel Kinahan, combined to derail Hernandez’s momentum over recent years.
However, since signing on with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom group, Eduardo Hernandez arguably looks back to his best, and is eager to put on a show in his native Mexico on Saturday night.
O’Shaquie Foster vs Eduardo Hernandez Expert Prediction
Both fighters will need to be careful in this one as despite his impressive recent stoppage streak and boasting a 91.8% KO percentage over his career so far, Eduardo ‘Rocky’ Hernandez has also shown he can be vulnerable in fights, with that ultra-aggressive style of his leading him to get stopped in the first round by a short left hook as he was recklessly trying to walk in on Roger Gutierrez back in 2019.
While O’Shaquie Foster will no doubt look to use his greater advantages in size and reach in this one to try and marshall Hernandez coming in, just as he was able to outbox Rey Vargas from range in his last fight, Hernandez is so relentless on his entry points in fights, which should be given an even further boost fighting in his home country this weekend, that this could well flare up into a bit of a firefight at various points this weekend.
The Under 10.5 rounds is currently going off at a generous +240, and there appears some value on that line given what we know from the way Hernandez likes to get on the inside and attack the body in fights, being an extremely dangerous fighter when he does manage to get inside, but also one more than capable of being involved in a head-on collision as he continually runs those red lights trying to enter the pocket.
+240 looks like a big price in this one for it to potentially end early this weekend, and that’s the way we’ll look on Saturday.
Prediction: Under 10.5 Rounds (+240)
