Trevor Bryan vs Daniel Dubois Analysis
Despite having a stellar 22-0 record and being on paper at least a legitimate world champion, 32-year-old American Trevor Bryan has fought little quality opposition over his career so far, with a badly washed up Bermane Stiverne being the highlight of his resume up to this point.
Daniel Dubois, meanwhile, despite having one loss on his resume, is by far Bryan’s stiffest test to date and it’s reflected in the line for this fight, with the 24 year old Englishman being installed as a prohibitive -1600 favorite for this fight.
Bryan Hasn’t Faced The Acid Test Yet
It’s fair to say that Trevor Bryan’s record in boxing is easily one of the most manufactured in the entire sport, and he could face a real wake up call here on Saturday against a fighter in Dubois with an explosive 94% KO ratio, with both of his last two opponents failing to even see the start of the third round.
In fact, the bookies aren’t expecting it to go very far either with the over/under for this fight set a criminally low 3.5 rounds.
However, Bryan may have a trick up his sleeve ahead of this one bringing former heavyweight great Larry Holmes into camp to work on that jab and if Larry can impart even 10% of his vast knowledge onto Bryan ahead of this bout, this fight might go longer than many people anticipate.
Dubois Looking For Redemption
After being touted as one of the best upcoming heavyweights in the world at the start of 2020 with only one fighter up to that point even seeing the start of the sixth round, the wheels well and truly came off the Dubois steam train with a brutal 10th round stoppage loss against ‘Juggernaut’ Joe Joyce at the end of 2020.
Dubois soon found out in that fight that not everyone can simply be steamrolled, and despite landing the harder, cleaner shots early in that bout, he faced a fighter in Joyce with one of the most granite chins in the entire division, with Joyce eventually breaking Dubois’ left orbital bone as he poured on his own offense late.
At just 24 years of age however, many people feel that loss may actually be beneficial to Dubois’ career moving forward as he looks to get back on track with a statement win here on Saturday against Bryan.
Trevor Bryan vs Daniel Dubois Prediction
Everyone is simply assuming this fight will be over quick with the total not only currently set at 3.5 rounds, but also juiced heavily to the under as well.
Daniel Dubois has only fought once in the States however, a quick first-round KO against Joe Cusumano last year, so this is by far his biggest test over on that side of the Atlantic to date, and while it’s hard to argue that Dubois will simply overwhelm the more rudimentary Bryan at some point in this fight, getting Dubois at a much more healthy +240 to close the show between rounds 4-6 presents a lot more value than the -110 offered on the Dubois rounds 1-3 prop in my opinion.
We’ll be hoping for Bryan to bring back some of that old Larry Holmes magic on Saturday night, at least enough to get him out of the first three rounds at least, but at some point Dubois should be too strong in this one and close the show against the vastly overmatched Bryan.
Take the Daniel Dubois Rounds 4-6 prop at +240 on Saturday as he takes on Trevor Bryan over in Miami, Florida.
