Florida State vs Virginia Tech Analysis

Virginia Tech’s three-game losing streak has sent the Hokies to the bottom of the ACC standings. Florida State (13-6) won six in a row before their most recent loss to Georgia Tech. FSU will look at this game as a bounce-back opportunity, while Virginia Tech looks to just get their bounce going in general.

Bombs Away

The Hokies should enjoy a favorable matchup from beyond-the-arc. Virginia Tech is No. 6 in the country in three-point shooting (39.4-percent), while Florida State is No. 277 in defending the three-point line.

Don’t expect to see a track meet in Tallahassee on Saturday, as Virginia Tech is No. 343 in the country in adjusted pace of play. Virginia Tech’s defense forced opposing offenses to play at the slowest pace in the country, at 18.9 seconds per possession.

A Matchup Nightmare

Leonard Hamilton’s Florida State teams routinely feature tall players, and this year is no exception. The Seminoles have four players over seven feet tall and majority of their roster contains players at 6-7 and above. That height advantage leads to a lot of blocks and turnovers, but like we mentioned above, this game will likely be dictated on Virginia Tech’s ability to hit some outside shots.
