Minnesota vs UMKC Predictions
- Minnesota Golden Gophers -8 vs UMKC Roos
- Total: 135 points
- Williams Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- 8pm ET / 5pm PT
- Big Ten Network+
UMKC is the ultimate snail’s pace team. That’s always been Billy Donlon’s style and there should be little question the Kangaroos will play very slow again with McKissic having graduated. By no means are the ‘Roos on my go-with list, but Minnesota might well be at the top of my go-against list, at least until they prove they’re better than they look on paper. Ben Johnson is the new head coach and he’s got a roster that’s basically devoid of legit major conference talent. I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest Minnesota might not win a Big Ten game all season. The Gophers might win this one, but I’d be surprised if it’s by a margin. UMKC plus this many is a decent take.
Preseason KenPom Rankings
Minnesota: No. 119 overall (No. 143 on Offense; No. 104 on Defense). The Golden Gophers don’t return any starters from last season, and are projected to finish last in the Big Ten by Blue Ribbon.
UMKC: No. 246 overall (No. 278 on Offense; No. 189 on Defense). The Roos return two starters from last season, and play at the No. 349 tempo in the country.
Added a second CBB play for opening night. This one is a free selection, up now on my @wagertalk home page https://t.co/crCpGZvtUv and that will do it for the first night of hoops. Loads of opinions but opting for super low volume at the outset and likely all season long.
