What kind of reward is that for winning the second-best conference in the country?! The obvious storyline in this one is turnovers where the Wolverines’ offense is No. 328 in turnover rate, while the Tritons’ defense is No. 2 in the country in forcing them.

The under-the-radar storyline is that UC-San Diego’s defense is very well equipped to handle Michigan’s seven-footers.

The Tritons do not start anyone taller than 6-foot-8, so how are they going to defend Danny Wolf or Vlad Goldin? Well, UC-San Diego has been preparing for this all year.

With Dan Monson leaving Long Beach State, it was very clear from the beginning of the season that the Big West was going to run through UC-Irvine and UC-San Diego. Irvine is led by 7-foot-1 center Bent Leuchten.

The Tritons have known for months that they were going to have to shut down a seven-footer, and that’s exactly what they did. In the Big West Championship Game, Leuchten was held to ten points with seven rebounds and he only attempted seven shots from the floor.

That was his lowest scoring output in a month. Wolf has a terrible 24.6-percent turnover rate this season, which has been a liability all year. He is going to get swarmed by the Tritons’ defense.
