2024 Georgia Football Betting Preview | Odds, Predictions and More

Georgia Football in the SEC Championship Game.

After back-to-back CFP National Championships in 2021 and 2022, the Georgia Bulldogs missed the College Football Playoffs last season after losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. How will Kirby Smart and Co. rebound in the new-look SEC? The GoldSheet shares its Georgia Football betting preview for the 2024 NCAAF season.

As you can see, we project the Bulldogs to be favored in every game this season. Georgia enters the year as the No. 1 team in our power ratings, three points better than No. 2 Ohio State. DraftKings has released early point spreads for seven of Georgia’s marquee games this season, and our numbers are in-line with those opening point spreads for all but one contest. As of Tuesday, June 11, the Bulldogs are a 1.5-point road favorite at Texas on October 19. We project that line closer to Georgia -5.

Season Win Total10.5 (o/u -110)
To Go UndefeatedYes +300 / No -400
Carson Beck Heisman+800

Odds above courtesy of DraftKings as of Tuesday, June 11. In addition to those numbers, DraftKings also has Georgia +300 to go undefeated during the regular season. The Bulldogs are the favorite to win the SEC and National Championship, but have the second-lowest odds (behind Ohio State) to make the College Football Playoffs.

Beck enters the season as the Heisman favorite after throwing for 3,941 yards last year. The senior has generated 34 touchdowns with eight interceptions in his career in Athens. High expectations followed Etienne from Florida, but Georgia’s new running back has hit some legal trouble after getting arrested for DUI in the offseason.

Georgia Football Returning Production

The rich keep getting richer in Athens. Georgia is expecting to return 13 starters from last year’s team: Six on offense (with the Heisman favorite returning at QB) and seven on defense. 247Sports compiles a composite ranking of incoming freshmen and transfers to quantify each team’s influx of talent. Georgia sits atop that list entering the 2024 season. From Brad Powers: Georgia’s last eight recruiting classes have all ranked in the top-4 nationally.

According to the Action Network’s TARP formula (transfer activity and returning production), Georgia’s offense is top-5 in talent. The Bulldogs attracted wide receiver London Humphreys from Vanderbilt, wide receiver Colbie Young from Miami (Fla) and running back Etienne from Florida. All three of those players were top-40 transfers according to 247Sports.

Kirby Smart’s staff lost some key position coaches during the offseason, but both coordinators will return for another year in Athens. All things considered in this era of college football, it’s rare for a head coach, both coordinators and the starting quarterback to all return to the nation’s top program.

Take a look at the other programs projected to start the year in the top-10: Ohio State is welcoming a new quarterback and offensive coordinator; Oregon is starting fresh at quarterback; Alabama is starting over with a completely new regime; Michigan has a new quarterback and coaching staff; LSU is replacing a Heisman-winning quarterback; and Penn State has a new offensive coordinator. There’s a reason why the Bulldogs enter the 2024 season at the head of the class.
