Alamo Bowl Betting Trends
After starting the season 0-2 against the spread, Colorado covered the number in nine of its last ten games. The Buffaloes are seeking their first bowl win since 2004!
Colorado’s last bowl appearance resulted in a 32-point loss to Texas in the 2020 Alamo Bowl. BYU went 7-4-1 against the spread this season, but the Cougars have not covered a spread since Halloween.
Seven of BYU’s last eight games went over the total. BYU did not play in a bowl game last season, but the Cougars did earn a 24-23 win over SMU in the 2022 New Mexico Bowl. BYU is 4-2 straight-up in bowl games under Kalani Sitake.
Alamo Bowl Analysis
If you are looking to bet Colorado in this matchup, perhaps the first half line is the way to go. BYU wide receiver Darius Lassiter will have to sit in the first half after receiving an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the regular season finale against Houston.
The Cougars have been forced to shuffle their starting offensive line in recent weeks. BYU starting safety Crew Wakley is in the transfer portal and not expected to play.
Alamo Bowl Prediction
Assuming Coach Prime is telling the truth and his starters will all take the field, we like the Buffaloes to come out firing in the first half, but look for an opportunity to potentially back BYU as a bigger underdog in the second half.
We would be surprised if Sanders, Hunter and Co. actually play all 60 minutes in this one.
Alamo Bowl Prediction: Colorado -2.5 First Half
