College Football Player Props Prediction 1: J.J. McCarthy, Michigan OVER ~232.5 Passing Yards (-115)

We’re guessing not many of you thought that’d be Nebraska but the Cornhuskers rush defense has been stout to open up the 2023 season.

This should force QB J.J. McCarthy to throw the ball more as Nebraska has given up 251 yards per game through the air which is third worst in the Big Ten.

McCarthy’s passing number is listed at 232.5 ahead of their game against Nebraska as he surpassed this number in the first two games but failed to meet it in the last two.

He’s thrown for 228 yards per game on the season as star RB Blake Corum has failed to surpass 100 yards rushing in three of four games on the season. The Wolverines are favored by 17 in this one but it is their first road game this season.

If the Cornhuskers hang around longer than the Wolverines want in the second half, look for Jim Harbaugh to open up the playbook and let McCarthy sling it down field to reliable receivers Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson.

College Football Player Props Prediction 2: Audric Estime, Notre Dame OVER ~92.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

Auric Estime leads the FBS in total rushing yards on the season at 591 heading into their game at Duke in which the Blue Devils have given up 133 yards per game on the ground so far this season.

Besides the first game of the season against Clemson, the Blue Devils haven’t been challenged much but did give up 111 yards to running back tandem Victor Rosa and Camryn Edwards of UConn last week in a 41-7 win.

Estime averages 15 carries per game at 7.7 yards per carry and while we don’t see him hitting that YPC number, should he net 15 carries in this game he’ll need to average 6.2 YPC to get him up and over his listed 92.5 rushing yard number against Duke.

Estime only had 70 yards on the ground against Ohio State so look for Notre Dame to get him another 100 yard performance on Saturday, something he’s done in three out of five games this season averaging 118 yards per game in 2023.
