Eastern Michigan vs Buffalo Analysis
The winless Buffalo Bulls travel over to Rynearson Stadium to take on the 2-1 Eastern Michigan Eagles this Saturday to try and kickstart their season.
The Bulls actually held a two-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter of last week’s game against Coastal Carolina, only to give up 21 points over the final 14 minutes to slip to their third defeat in three games.
Eastern Michigan, meanwhile, scored a huge upset win over Arizona State last weekend on the road, overcoming the Sun Devils 30-21 in a game in which they out-gained Arizona State by over 100 yards.
Eastern Michigan holds a 6-3 series advantage over Buffalo, however, the Bulls have won each of their last two meetings, including a 43-14 blowout in this same venue back in 2019.
Bulls Need To Do Much Better in the MAC
Buffalo went 2-6 in the MAC last season, which was a far cry from the Bulls’ red-hot 2020 campaign in which they registered as a top-25 team in the polls.
2022 looks to be a continuation of last year, with the Bulls having now lost four-straight conference games along with failing to cover the spread in each one of those four also.
Eagles Enjoying Red-Zone Success
Eastern Michigan took five trips into the red zone last weekend against Arizona State and came away with points in every one.
That follows on from a stellar offensive campaign this year for the Eagles in which they’ve gone 13-for-13 inside the red zone this season to rank as one of only 20 teams to remain perfect on the year so far.
Eastern Michigan vs Buffalo Prediction
It’s hard to look past anything other than a comprehensive Eastern Michigan win and point-spread cover this weekend in Ypsilanti.
Eastern Michigan went after Arizona State early in that game last week, putting up 307 total yards of offense in the first half alone, including 154 rushing yards!
Buffalo has given up 450+ yards in each of their three contests so far this season and the only team they marginally out-gained (by 7 yards) was Holy Cross two weeks ago, which is a huge downgrade in overall ability to what they’ll face this weekend.
The Chanticleers held Buffalo to a measly 1.3 yards per rushing attempt last week on the road, and we can’t envision Buffalo enjoying any more success this time around either.
Take Eastern Michigan -6 on Saturday to win and cover at home against Buffalo over in the MAC.
