Georgia Football Predictions: AREAS TO WATCH

Georgia lost another large number of players to the NFL draft and has to reload. Offensively, the new QB’s are highly rated but there will be times when Stetson Bennett and his “it” factor will be missed.

The run game is great and remains unchanged. TE Bowers would have been a top ten pick in THIS draft. He’s back, and the WR unit is good. Unless there are more QB turnovers I expect another strong offensive performance.

The defense lost plenty to the NFL but as I said a year ago, Georgia plays plenty of guys in blowout situations and some of the new players are ready to step in with no drop in performance.

In fact, five of the top seven tacklers return. 13 of their 35 sacks came in the SEC title game, plus the two playoff games. If there’s one area to look at, its kicking. A stout PK graduated. The new guy is untested.

Georgia Football 2023 Predictions, Georgia Schedule:

I expect a 7-0 start, with the toughest games at Auburn and maybe hosting Kentucky, although Georgia is on a 34-1 run at home, with the one loss coming in double overtime.

Unless Florida finds its defense quicker than expected, that’s a win as well. Home games after that are vs. Missouri and Ole Miss. Both are dangerous teams.

Georgia has won the last three at Tennessee. This could be a good one, as the Bulldogs “only” won by 14 at home last year.

Georgia Football Bottom Line:

Maintaining excellence is not easy. Like with the Missouri game a year ago, we should expect one off-the-wall challenge. The goal is not necessarily perfection, but a spot in the final four. 11-1 is my prediction.

Spread inflate happens with public teams like Georgia, and their long-term home favorite spread record is under 50%, and in a surprise to some, was not good again in these past two seasons, even with their supreme dominance.

I had no regular season plays in their ’22 games, going 1-0 backing Ohio St in the playoffs. My one home lean vs. Georgia this year could be when hosting Kentucky, (positive offensive coordinator change). I have 1-2 plus tabs as well.
