Louisville vs Syracuse Predictions
- Louisville Cardinals -3 vs Syracuse Orange
- Total: 55.5 Points
- Syracuse is 8-1 against the spread this season, including 6-1 ATS as an underdog.
- Louisville has out-scored Syracuse 86-34 in their previous two meetings.
The Orange continue to improve and I like their chances of getting an outright win at Louisville. It’s a very favorable scheduling spot with Syracuse off a bye following a really nice win. They should be the fresher team with Louisville off a real grinder against Clemson. The attacks for these two teams are very similar in terms of style and tendencies and there’s little to choose on that count. In fact, this really looks like a toss up on all the numbers. That’s where the scheduling dynamics provide what I consider a playable advantage on the Syracuse side. Orange plus the points and a small bonus call on the +145 or thereabouts on the moneyline.

College Football Week 11 Injury Notes from The GoldSheet
- Arizona – QB Will Plummer played through an AC joint (shoulder) injury and a lacerated hand in the upset against Cal.
- BYU – Top WR Neil Pau’u (46 catches, 6 TD) was in a walking boot after last week’s game.
- Cal – Played without starting senior quarterback Chase Garbers, who was one of seven starters and 24 players and coaches who were unavailable last week vs Arizona.
- Cincinnati – Lost top RB Jerome Ford (884 yards rushing, 15 TD), who was helped off with a leg injury last week.
- Coastal Carolina – QB Grayson McCall did not play against Georgia Southern and is out indefinitely with an upper body injury.
- Duke – QB Gunnar Holmberg left last week’s game with an upper body injury.
- Georgia – Star LB Adam Anderson suspended.
- Indiana – Both QB Michael Penix (missed last four games) and backup QB Jack Tuttle (missed last two games) returned to practice this week in preparation for Rutgers.
- Iowa – QB Spencer Petras played briefly, but Kirk Ferentz quickly determined he wasn’t ready to go after being knocked out of the previous game and was replaced by Alex Padilla. Padilla is listed as the starter vs Minnesota this Saturday.
- Kansas – QB and leading rusher Jason Bean is questionable this week at Texas. Backup Miles Kendrick relieved Bean last week, but suffered a season-ending injury in the process.
- New Mexico – Starting QB Terry Wilson Jr is still recovering from a dislocated elbow, while backup QB Isaiah Chavez was knocked out of last week’s game vs UNLV.
- Rutgers had several potentially impactful injuries during the Scarlet Knights’ steamroll loss to Wisconsin. QB Noah Vedral didn’t return. LB Olakunle Fatukasi (team’s top tackler) was injured, as was WR Aron Cruickshank.
- Stanford – Starting QB Tanner McKee missed last week’s game vs Utah.
- Texas – Star RB Bijan Robinson is questionable this week vs Kansas with a neck injury.
- Virginia Tech – QB Braxton Burmeister is questionable after getting knocked out of last week’s game against Boston College.
- Wisconsin – Top RB Ches Mellusi is questionable for this week vs Northwestern after suffering a knee injury last week.
Louisville vs Syracuse Analysis from The GoldSheet
Even Jim Boeheim would be envious of the recent pointspread success of Syracuse, which has covered eight of nine games this season. Give Dino Babers credit for junking his Air Raid offense, which always made old-line Cuse fans weaned on Ben Schwartzwalder power football, cringe. While it’s not quite Jim Nance, Floyd Little, and Larry Csonka from the 60s, the Orange is now running the ball almost by a near Schwartzwalder-like 2-to-1 margin over the pass, and sophomore Sean Tucker (1,267 yards rushing) is rumbling like Jim Brown as he chases Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker for the national rushing lead. But such good news also travels pretty fast and now the oddsmakers are no longer discounting the Orange as they might have earlier in the season. Playing in tough luck lately against a challenging slate, Louisville now needs wins in two of their last three games to get bowl eligible and maybe save the job of HC Scott Satterfield.
