Mississippi State vs Kentucky Predictions
- Kentucky Wildcats -1.5 at Mississippi State Bulldogs
- Total: 47 Points
- The home team has won and covered the point spread in each of the last six meetings in this series.
This is a straight power ratings and matchup play for me. I have Mississippi State -3.5 on my projections, so naturally I’m seeing value with the Bulldogs as the underdog. As for the matchup, while Kentucky has certainly been solid all season, they’re still a team that prefers to run the football, and Mississippi State is really tough against the run. No question, this is a tough game on paper and one I expect will have a very good chance to go right to the wire. But with the line where it is and what I see as a somewhat favorable matchup, I’m on Mississippi State to get the win and cover.

Mississippi State vs Kentucky Analysis from The GoldSheet
If that was a chess-match between Kentucky and Mississippi State last year in Lexington, then Mark Stoops was Bobby Fischer and Mike Leach was Boris Spassky as the Cats completely confounded Leach’s QBs in a grinding 24-2 UK win. Leach’s reluctance to bother with establishing any sort of infantry diversion could once again play into the hands of the ballhawks on Stoops’ nationally-ranked defense that distorted last year’s matchup. Granted, Stoops doesn’t feature an Alabama-like offense, even as Penn State transfer Will Levis provides a bit more of an aerial threat than did Wilson last year.
