Ole Miss Football Preview | SEC Betting Odds and Predictions

Ole Miss Football cheer team runs on field

The Ole Miss football program has appeared in a New Year’s Six bowl game twice in the last three years. With Alabama welcoming a new coach and LSU replacing the Heisman-winning quarterback, the 2024-25 season will present another opportunity for the Rebels to take a step forward under Lane Kiffin.

We project the Rebels to be favored in ten of their 12 games this season with games against LSU and Georgia as the exception. Ole Miss should get off to a comfortable start as the Rebels are projected to be a double-digit favorite in each of their first six games.

If given the opportunity, Coach Kiffin would probably like to position his bye weeks a little differently. The Rebels’ first bye week comes in Week 8, so Ole Miss will open the season with seven-straight games. Weeks 6 and 7 will take Hotty Toddy on a back-to-back road trip to South Carolina and Baton Rouge. Even with an easy introduction to the season, that mini stretch in early-October will provide some obstacles.

Odds above courtesy of DraftKings as of Friday, July 19. Using those prices from DraftKings, there does seem to be a “discount” on the Rebels’ regular season win total compared to the College Football Playoff price. If you are interested in backing Ole Miss this season, taking over 9.5 wins at -115 will likely be the better proposition compared to -130 to make the College Football Playoff.

We project Ole Miss to be a double-digit favorite in eight games this season in a very friendly schedule. Falling short of ten wins would probably keep the Rebels out of the College Football Playoff. Laying -130 to make the playoffs does not present much value when simply taking over 9.5 wins at -115 will likely take you down the same path.

Ole Miss Football Returning Production

Ole Miss is expected to return 13 starters from last year’s squad: Seven on offense and six on defense. According to ESPN’s Bill Connelly, the Rebels are projected to return 70-percent of their production from last season: 83-percent on offense and 57-percent on defense. Both coordinators will return to Oxford, creating plenty of continuity in the coaches’ booth this season.

The Rebels will welcome the No. 17 class of incoming talent (freshmen + transfers), per 247Sports. Former five-star defensive end Walter Nolen was considered the No. 3 transfer pickup in the country, arriving from Texas A&M. In addition to Nolen, Ole Miss picked up two more top-30 transfers in Princely Umanmielen from Florida and Antwane Wells Jr. from South Carolina.

Dart threw for 3,364 yards and 23 touchdowns last season, and put on a show against Penn State in the Peach Bowl (379 passing yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions). His production is going to have to improve on the road for Ole Miss to take another step forward this season. In the Rebels’ five road games last season, Dart was sacked a total of 16 times with four touchdown passes and four interceptions.
