Rate Bowl Betting Trends

Kansas State went 4-8 against the spread this season, and the Wildcats were favored in every contest until the regular season finale at Iowa State.

Four of Kansas State’s last five games stayed under the total. Rutgers went 4-1-1 against the spread as an underdog this season, including outright upset wins over Virginia Tech, Minnesota and Maryland. Six of the Scarlet Knights last seven games went over the total.

Both teams won their respective bowl games last season with Kansas State beating NC State and Rutgers beating Miami (Fla).

The ‘Cats are 2-2 in bowl games under Chris Klieman, while the Knights are 6-2 in bowl games under Greg Schiano (6-1-1 against the spread).

Rate Bowl Analysis

We’re likely looking at two teams that are going to approach this game in different fashions. Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman has already said that his staff has spent the majority of the month-long break evaluating the roster and recruiting.

The Wildcats lost three of their last four games, and this was a fairly disappointing season in Manhattan after Kansas State entered the year with high expectations in the Big XII.

The Wildcats are expected to have some key opt-outs in the rushing attack with running back DJ Giddens declaring for the NFL Draft and starting right tackle Carver Willis leaving the program.

Rate Bowl Prediction

Greg Schiano puts a lot of emphasis on bowl games, as evident in his 6-1-1 mark against the spread. Rutgers is expected to have its full roster available.

Running back Kyle Monangai is questionable, but he did make the trip to Arizona. Rutgers only lost two games by more than a touchdown this season (vs Wisconsin and at USC).

Kansas State went 1-6 against the spread when favored by more than a touchdown this season.
