Texas got a battle from Rice and in our opinion, is better prepared for this contest with the Crimson Tide.

Rice was an in-state opponent with a chip on their shoulder after reaching a bowl game last season, and although his travels are very well documented, JT Daniels is a veteran quarterback that’s capable of making plays.

The Longhorns were up to the challenge, out-gaining Rice 458-176 while holding the Owls to eight first downs.

Alabama entered last week’s contest with Middle Tennessee having covered the spread in 13 of their last 15 season openers.

After beating Utah State 55-0 in Week 1 last year, the Crimson Tide dispatched the Blue Raiders 56-7 last week. Mission accomplished.

Texas is hungry to avenge last year’s 20-19 home loss to the Crimson Tide. The Longhorns had a 25-16 advantage in first downs, and Alabama committed 15 penalties for 100 yards but still escaped Austin with a last-second win.

Quinn Ewers has said and done all of the right things in Austin since assuming the starting QB role. Jalen Milroe has only attempted 78 passes in his college career at Alabama.

In his lone start last season, he was responsible for three turnovers against Texas A&M. If he beats us, he beats us. But we’re willing to go to the window with the veteran Longhorns. Hook’em.
