881 / 882 Iowa State at Houston Over 127.5
If you enjoy watching defense played at a very high level, this will likely be one of the best college basketball games of the regular season. Last night’s NBA All-Stars should probably tune in. Houston enters this contest No. 1 in the country in defensive efficiency, No. 1 in effective field goal defense, No. 4 in forcing turnovers, No. 8 in three-point shooting allowed (28.8-percent) and No. 5 in two-point shooting allowed (43.2-percent). Iowa State enters this contest No. 3 in the country in defensive efficiency and No. 1 in forcing turnovers while allowing opponents to shoot just 46.2-percent from two-point range (over four percent below the national average).
This game is going to be played at a very high level where every possession will matter. Here’s the catch: These teams play nearly-identical styles on defense. We’ve got two of the country’s most aggressive ball screen coverage defenses sharing the court tonight. Guess what these offenses have been practicing against for the last five months? You probably won’t find two offenses that are better-prepared to essentially look in the mirror on Monday night.
Eight of Iowa State’s last nine games would have cleared this total in the upper-120s. Six of Houston’s last seven games would have cleared this total. The first meeting between these squads in January only saw 110 points, but these coaching staffs know how to make the necessary adjustments.
Daytona 500 Preview
The Daytona 500 was moved from Sunday to Monday afternoon at 4:30pm ET / 1:30pm PT because of rain in northern Florida. Interested in placing a wager on the race? We’ve got you covered.
