Chinese Grand Prix: Schedule of Events

This is a sprint race week so there will be a practice session starting at 11:30 PM ET on Thursday, April 18, and then a few hours later at 3:30 AM ET on Friday, April 19 will be qualifying for the Sprint Race.

The Sprint race will be at 11:00 PM ET on Friday, April 19, and qualifying for the race will be Saturday, April 20 morning at 3:00 AM ET with the race being at 3:00 AM ET Sunday, April AM ET.

Chinese Grand Prix Track: Shanghai International Circuit

This track is pretty wide which makes for lots of room for passing in the corners so expect cars to go 2 and even 3 wide on the start.

There are 2 DRS zones with long straights so if a car is within DRS range, they will have plenty of time to make a pass so establishing that 1 second lead ahead of the car behind you is key.

There are a few tight turns where passing is hard, but the straights and turns coming out of the straights is where the passing will take place. Check out a virtual lap of the course here.

Chinese Grand Prix Predictions

Will Verstappen cruise to another easy victory? Probably. The long straights will make it tough for anyone to get around him and stay around him, and if he can get 1 second ahead of 2nd place to take away DRS, he’ll be impossible to catch without reliability issues or something crazy happening.

If we don’t get any accidents, I expect both Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes to be in the Top 10 with Fernando Alonso probably in there as well leaving only one spot open for the last point spot. Last week Tsunoda grabbed the 10th spot, and he’s -125, but I don’t think they’ll have the speed this week.

I would look at Stroll -175 as his car should be Top 10 caliber, but as we know he can’t always get the top 10 finish. Hulkenberg at +185 might be worth a sprinkle as he’s finished 10th and 11th in the last 2 weeks, and their speed has been pretty good at times.

Sergio Perez at +125 to finish Top 2 is pretty surprising to me as he’s finished 2nd in 3 out of 4 races, and as long as he stays clean in qualifying, he should be in the top 2 with those long straights.

This is a play we should probably be playing every week as it’s going to hit quite a bit I assume as the pecking order is pretty obvious at the front of the field.

Chinese Grand Prix Parlay Pieces

Ferrari Double Top 6 and McLaren Double Top 10, rinse and repeat. Alex Albon over Logan Sargeant for qualifying and in the race.

I lost this one last week in the race when Albon wrecked on the first turn, and then I got to watch Sargeant finish last of all cars running. Just be consistent, and play this every week with your favorite parlay piece from another sport.
