Spanish Grand Prix Track: Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

The track is not too difficult to navigate as there are only a couple of tight corners, but the track does set up for overtaking opportunities, especially with the two DRS zones and the very long front stretch leading into turn one where the majority of the passes will take place.

I think on some tracks the turns are too tight where cars have to slow down way too much that creates a log jam that actually decreases passing, but this track has turns that seem to promote overtaking.

It’s not a demanding track on drivers and tyres, and it’s fairly open so I think this could end up being a really good race, especially throughout the middle of the field as the cars are more equal this year than last year when Verstappen dusted the entire field.

Spanish Grand Prix Winner Prediction

Max Verstappen -190

The gap from Verstappen to others has certainly closed, but he’s still the best on the grid. After not winning a couple of races, Max got back to his winning ways at Canada, and even though the race was wet and dry, we saw Max get out in front and get the victory.

The long front stretch here is a big advantage for him, and although Norris and Leclerc have shown winning ability, those races were outliers and the tracks/situations very different from this race. This is a good number, and you’ll be very happy holding this ticket if he ends up on the pole.

Spanish Grand Prix Prop Predictions

1 Unit: Winning Margin UNDER 6 Seconds +225
1 Unit: Winning Margin BETWEEN 6 & 12 Seconds +250

The premise of this bet is that if the winning margin is less than 12 seconds, that you’ll come out ahead either 1.5 or 1.25 units.

Like we discussed above, the gap from Max to others is not that big. Last year he won this race by 24 seconds, and the out of the first five wins of the season for him, three were over 12 seconds, but the last three wins haven’t been close to this margin as Miami was 7.6 seconds, Emilia Romagna was 0.76, and Canada was 3.8.

I don’t think Max is winning that big many more times, and if there happens to be a late safety car or virtual safety car that bunches the field, this will cash easy.

Spanish Grand Prix Parlay Piece

I think Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes are all good Double Top 10 candidates, but I like Mercedes these days.

Outside of the Australian Grand Prix where both Hamilton and Russell had nightmare races, they’ve finished Double Top 10 in every race.

This isn’t a track that should attract a lot of trouble and I expect both Mercedes to be in the 4-8 finishing range.
