The PGA Tour heads to TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota for this week’s 3M Open, headlined by Hideki Matsuyama, Tony Finau and Sunjae Im. 3M Open Players to Avoid
From Andy Lang: Cameron Champ – He’s the defending champ of this event, but he’s missed the cut in five-straight events. He’s 115th in greens in regulation, 181st in putting this year and 193rd around the green. He won this event last year, but he missed the cut here in 2019. He might grab your attention because he won this event last year, but that’s not an indication of how good he’s been this year.
Hideki Matsuyama – I don’t know why he’s playing this tournament after being terrible at the Scottish Open and The Open Championship, but he’s 127th in putting this season, and this is going to be a putting contest tournament. He also has big distractions as he’s getting ready to receive the biggest LIV contract offer yet, I don’t trust him and I don’t think he’s focused.
Sahith Theegala – He’s been good recently, and finished 34th last week, but he has to finish top-5 to return value this week, and I don’t think he gets there. He missed the cut here in 2020, this is a tough travel week, and he’s -0.05 strokes gained putting the last three month
3M Open DraftKings Darlings
Brice Garnett ($6900) – His stats aren’t great this year, but he finished 16th at the Barracuda last week and he loves playing here. He’s finished 23rd, 26th and 16th in the three years playing here. He loves playing here, it’s a terrible field so he should make the cut.
Adam Svensson ($7600) – He’s made the cut in seven-straight tournaments and he’s played here once, in 2019, and he finished 15th. Very undervalued at this price.
Nick Hardy ($8000) – Five made cuts in a row, three out of the last four tournaments he’s finished 14th or better.

3M Open Best Bet
Beau Hossler over Cameron Champ
Champ is the defending “champ” of this event, but he’s missed the cut in five-straight events. Beau Hossler has made the cut in five out of six tournaments and he’s made the cut here two out of three years. He’s sixth in Strokes Gained Putting on Tour this season, and that should be enough to get him the win over Champ.
