World Wide Technology Championship Betting Preview
The Tour returns after a week off as the players travel to the southernmost point of Baja California.
El Camaleon Golf Club, the traditional host of this event, will not be the location of this year’s edition which is being played at the Tiger Woods designed El Cardonal for the first time, which is the first Tour event to be featured on one of Tiger’s courses.
That just means course history will have no bearing in trying to predict this week’s winner.
The course is part of Diamante resort, meaning it was designed with vacationers in mind. Players will find some of the widest fairways and largest greens that they will see all season.

From what I’m reading, the greens appear to be the most difficult piece of this track that will give players some trouble. Otherwise, expect to see plenty of low scores this week.
It also means without much trouble off the tee, distance could play a big factor this week. Wayward drives are much more likely to stay in the fairway which gives the green light for guys to ‘tee it high and let it fly.’ Distance, coupled with current form will be the areas I will most closely pay attention to this week.
The typical defense for the course can be wind as it sits on the pacific coast, but winds are not forecasted to be a concern at all this week. Temperatures are expected in the mid 80s and rain is not in the picture. Call it a near perfect week of weather.
World Wide Technology Championship Outright Winner: Ludvig Aberg (+900)
From Nick Borrman:
Here’s the thing, I’m not actually going to play Aberg at +900, but I do like him this week as a perfect match of distance and current form.
My strategy will be to wait and hope for a chance to get him live in the +1500 neighborhood. If he gets off to a ho-hum start to the tournament, we may have a great chance to grab him at a better price before round 2.
Heck, he even may have a poor front-nine or first couple of holes and his number jumps. I’ll be watching closely on Thursday for a chance to jump on him.
His last six starts have been incredible:
T14 Wyndham Championship
T4 Czech Masters (DP World Tour)
WIN European Masters (DP World Tour)
T10 BMW PGA Championship (DP World Tour)
T2 Sanderson Farms Championship
T13 Shriners Children’s Open
He won four of his final seven collegiate starts this spring/summer, he leads the field in Total SG over the last six months and he smashes the ball an absolute mile.
I don’t think I have to go on. He is the betting favorite for a reason, but with such a short price, it’s perfectly fine to wait on him and look to get a better number live.
World Wide Technology Championship Finish Position: Luke List Top-10 +360 | Top-20 +175 (FanDuel)
Not going out on much of a limb here considering List has finished Top-25 in each of this last three starts including his playoff win at the Sanderson Farms Championship, but he clearly is in good form and his short game and putting has been adding strokes, which is not normally the case.
Adding to that, further good news for him is that these are new greens for everyone this week, and that has proven to help level the playing field as there is a learning curve to figure out new greens.
Otherwise, he too smashes the ball. His Tee-to-Green game has been very strong as well, ranking 5th in the field over the last three months and 7th over the last six months.
He has a better realistic chance this week than most in his price range.
See you next week for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship!
