What are Kingsbarns’ current odds?
Kingsbarns is currently tied with Derma Sotogake as the fourth favorite in the latest Kentucky Derby odds, with 12-1 odds to win the race1. He is behind Forte (5-2), Tapit Trice (6-1), and Angel of Empire (8-1), who are the top three choices according to the oddsmakers.

KingsBarns Racing Profile and Past Performances
Kingsbarns made his debut on January 16 at Fair Grounds, where he won a one-mile maiden race by 1 3/4 lengths with a strong stretch run. He then followed up with another impressive victory at Tampa Bay Downs on February 12, where he dominated a 1-mile 40-yard allowance optional claiming race by 6 1/4 lengths with a front-running performance.
He earned his first stakes win and his ticket to the Kentucky Derby on March 26, when he led from start to finish in the $1 million Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds, beating Raise Cain by 2 1/4 lengths in a fast time of 1:57.33 for 1 3/16 miles3. He earned 100 points for that win, which put him in second place on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard behind Forte.
Kingsbarns arrived at Churchill Downs on April 18 after traveling from Florida. He has been working well on the track under the supervision of Pletcher’s assistant Ginny DePasquale.
He breezed four furlongs in :48.80 on April 25 and five furlongs in :59.80 on May 11. His trainer Pletcher said he is very pleased with his condition and confident in his ability.
What are Kingsbarns’ strengths and weaknesses?
Kingsbarns has several strengths that make him a formidable contender for the Kentucky Derby. He has proven himself on dirt, which is not always easy for horses who are bred for turf or synthetic surfaces.
He has shown versatility in running styles, as he can take the lead or come from behind depending on the pace scenario. He has displayed stamina and speed, as he can handle distances up to 1 3/16 miles and run fast fractions throughout. He has also shown consistency and professionalism, as he has won all his three races with ease and without any trouble.
However, Kingsbarns also has some weaknesses that could hinder his chances of winning. He has never raced against Forte or any other top contenders before, which means he will face a much tougher challenge than he has ever faced before.
He has never raced at Churchill Downs before, which means he will have to adapt to a new surface, configuration, and atmosphere than he is used to. He has never raced with more than nine horses before, which means he will have to deal with more traffic and potential interference than he is used to.
