Who is Perform?
Perform was born in 2020 in Kentucky and was bred by Michael Orem & J.B. Lane Orem. He is sired by Good Magic, the 2017 Champion 2-Year-Old Colt and a Grade 1 winner who finished second in the 2018 Kentucky Derby and fourth in the Preakness Stakes. His dam is Jane Says, a daughter of Tale of Ekati, a Grade 1 winner and a sire of multiple stakes winners. Jane Says is also a half-sister to Judy B, a stakes-placed mare who produced Grade 2 winner and sire Mr Speaker.
Perform is trained by Hall of Famer Claude McGaughey III, who has won more than 2,000 races in his career and is best known for training champions such as Easy Goer, Heavenly Prize, Personal Ensign, and Orb. He has also trained three Preakness Stakes winners: Easy Goer in 1989, Rhythm in 1990, and Orb in 2013. Perform’s regular jockey is Feargal Lynch, who has won more than 1,500 races and has ridden one Preakness Stakes winner: Cloud Computing in 2017.
What is Perform’s Racing Profile and History?
Perform has raced seven times from 2022 to 2023, with two wins and one second. He has earned $136,500 in his career so far. He started his career on dirt but switched to turf after his first two races. He broke his maiden on his fifth start at Tampa Bay Downs over a mile on dirt. He then stepped up to stakes company and won the Federico Tesio Stakes at Laurel Park over 1 1/8 miles on dirt.
He defeated Ninetyprcentmaddie by a head and Summer Cause by another length and three-quarters. He posted a career-best speed figure of 95 and covered the distance in 1:52.18. The Federico Tesio Stakes is a local prep race for the Preakness Stakes and has produced three Preakness Stakes winners: Deputed Testamony in 1983, Oliver’s Twist in 1995, and Magic Weisner in 2002.
What are Perform’s Strengths and Weaknesses?
Perform is a late bloomer who has been maturing and developing with each race. He has shown grit and determination in his races and can overcome adversity and trouble. He has also shown versatility and adaptability in his races and can run well on different surfaces and distances. He has also shown a strong finishing kick and can close well from off the pace or near the lead.
However, Perform also has some weaknesses that could limit his chances of winning the Preakness Stakes. He has not faced or beaten any of the top contenders for the race, such as Forte, Arabian Knight, Confidence Game, or Mage. He has also not raced outside of Florida or Maryland since October last year and may need to adjust to a new track and environment. He may also face a faster pace and more pressure than he did in his last race.

Horse racing is a popular form of betting and entertainment, with various types of wagers available to suit different preferences. Although there is race history or horses that have raced before, horse racing has the advantage of being somewhat unpredictable, which in turn creates some large payouts for small wagers.
