2024 NL Rookie of the Year Predictions and Odds

Jackson Merril attempts to win NL Rookie of the Year for YRFI

2024 NL Rookie of the Year Betting Preview

Let’s break down the NL Rookie of the Year market and make some predictions.

With an assist from Sportsmemo handicapper Steve Seagrave, the GoldSheet team is here to help you get ready for MLB Opening Day.  Who are the new faces in the Show who are expected to make an immediate impact?

The GoldSheet team has just introduced a new product called GoldSheet Lite to help you handicap the NBA, NCAAB and MLB slate each day. GoldSheet Lite is priced between $5-10 each day and features stats, analysis and recommended wagers to help you enjoy a full day of wagering. Use promo code GSLITE50 to take 50-percent off your first GoldSheet Lite issue.

The New York Yankees have won the MVP awards in MLB history with 23, while the St Louis Cardinals are second while leading the National League with 21. Three organizations have never produced an MVP winner: the New York Mets, Tampa Bay Ray, and Arizona Diamondbacks. Barry Bonds holds the record for most all-time MVP awards with 7, and Miguel Cabrera was the last to win back-to-back MVPs in 2012-13. A player from the LA Angels has won 5 of the last 10 AL MVPs (Mike Trout 3/Shohei Ohtani 2).

Previous NL Rookie of the Year Winners

  • 2023 Corbin Carroll (Arizona Diamondbacks)
  • 2022 Michael Harris (Atlanta Braves)
  • 2021 Johnathan India (Cincinnati Reds)
  • 2020 Devin Williams (Milwaukee Brewers)

2024 NL Rookie of the Year Prediction

The top three current favorites to win the National League are Yoshinobu Yamamoto (+175) of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Jung Hoo Lee (+400) of the San Francisco Giants, and Jackson Churio (+700) of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Yamamoto has the advantage of being a front-line starter for a team with an absolutely loaded roster and pitching seven seasons in Japan. He made his MLB debut on Thursday, March 21st, in the Korea Series, which did not go well. He was tagged for five earned runs on four hits and did not make it out of the second inning.

Jung Hoo Lee is a speedy center fielder who posted a .340/.407/.491 slash line over the course of seven seasons in the KBO. His former teammate Ha-Seong Kim just showed that a KBO hitter can perform at the same level in the MLB, but he did need a buffer season in between.

Jackson Churio is an electric prospect who is expected to make an impact immediately for the young Brew Crew. Although Churio has not yet played in the show, he had a .280 batting average with 22 home runs and 84 RBIS in 122 games in AA last year and .333 in 14 games in AAA.

Jung Hoo Lee is already making waves in spring training as a leadoff single set up a five-run bottom of the first inning, and his speed doesn’t seem to be affected as he looks to have made a full recovery from ankle surgery. He looks to be the day one table setter for the Giants with the advantage of playing center field for the entire season.

NL ROY Prediction: Jung Hoo Lee, San Francisco Giants +450
