Baltimore Orioles vs Houston Astros Analysis

The Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles meet for the second of four games from Camden Yards on Friday evening. The Orioles prevailed 2-0 last night behind and incredible performance from rookie Kyle Bradish.

The Astros may have fallen victim to a let down spot after clinching the American League West this weekend. Baltimore sends the young righty Dean Kremer to the mound while Houston counters with a righty of their own in Jose Urquidy. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM EST/4:05 PST.

How The West Was Won

The Houston Astros don’t have much left to play for these days after sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays in dominant fashion. Houston basically has home field wrapped up in the American League and is to far behind the Los Angeles Dodgers to realistically catch them.

The Astros outscored the Rays 14-2 across the three game sweep while locking up the American League West. Justin Verlander can’t be held responsible for last night’s 2-0 loss as he tossed six innings of two run baseball.

The potent Astros lineup only manaatged two singles across the entire game. Jose Urquidy gets the nod for the Astros on Friday night. He is 13-7 with a 3.96 ERA and 1.17 WHIP on the season. Urquidy faced Baltimore in late August and gave up three runs on four hits across five innings of work.

O’s In Hot Pursuit Of Wild Card Spot

The Baltimore Orioles blanked the Houston Astros 2-0 last night to improve to 78-71 on the season. Kyle Bradish was lights out with 8.2 innings of shutout baseball with 10 strikeouts and only two hits and no walks allowed.

Leadoff man Cedric Mullins went 2 for 4 with a double and second baseman Rougned Odor drove in the games only runs with a two RBI single. The O’s currently sit four games behind the Seattle Mariners for the third and final Wild Card spot with only 13 games to play.

Baltimore needs to do their absolute best to win out and they do have a 3-1 series edge on Houston this season. The 26 year-old righty Dean Kremer gets the nod for the Orioles on Friday evening.

Kremer is 7-5 on the season with a 3.33 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. He went head-to-head with Urquidy and the Astros back in August and took home the victory with 7.2 innings of three run baseball.

Baltimore Orioles vs Houston Astros Prediction

The Houston Astros enter this contest as road favorites with a money line set at -145 while the Baltimore Orioles sit at +125 with a total of 7.5.

This showdown features two of the leagues top bullpens as the Houston Astros rank #1 in ERA while the Baltimore Orioles rank 8th.

These starters went head-to-head back in late August and the final score was 3-1. Kremer has really come around recently and Urquidy prefers to pitch on the road. The Astros are 3-0-1 to the under in their last four games and the Orioles have fallen short of this number in their last five games.

You have to question how motivated Houston is at this point with nothing left to play. This game has the feel of a low scoring rock fight, let’s roll with the under here.

Prediction: Under 7.5 -105
