Baltimore Orioles vs Milwaukee Brewers Analysis

The Milwaukee Brewers travel to beautiful Camden Yards in Baltimore for an Interleague clash with the Orioles. The Brewers sit at 2-3 on the season after edging out the Orioles 5-4 yesterday evening. The Orioles are 1-4, with their lone victory coming in the first game of this series by the final score of 2-0.

This game features two top of the rotation starters in Corbin Burnes and John Means. Tonight is the rubber game, winner takes home a 2-1 series victory. These teams didn’t play last season, being that it’s an Interleague series.

Orioles Fall Just Short

After winning game one of this series 2-0, the Orioles fell just short yesterday, losing 5-4 to Milwaukee. It looked like Baltimore was going to be able to pull off an upset, after jumping out to a 4-0 lead on a Cedric Mullins’ grand slam in the 2nd inning. But that was all the Orioles could muster and the Brewers chipped away for the victory. Starting pitcher Spencer Watkins gave up four runs in only three innings of work. Felix Bautista took the loss in a relief appearance. Aside from Mullins, who had two hits, Trey Mancini was the only other Orioles player with two hits.

Orioles ace John Means gets the nod tonight. The south paw pitched well in his first start, he gave up only one run on six hits with five strikeouts in four innings of work. This is Means first career meeting with the Brewers.

Burnes Hopes to Improve In Second Start

After losing game one of this series, Milwaukee bounced back with a 5-4 victory. Holy Milner got the win in relief of Eric Lauer, who gave up three runs in 4.1 innings of work. Newly acquired Andrew McCutcheon led the Brew Crew with two hits and three RBI. Wily Adames and Lorenzo Cain each had two hits of their own and Adames scored three runs.

Reigning N.L. Cy Young award winner Corbin Burnes will look to right the ship against the Orioles on Wednesday night. Burnes was roughed up for three runs in only five innings while receiving a no-decision in a 5-4 loss against the Chicago Cubs. He gave up three walks and three hits, including a home run.

This will be Burnes first career start against the Baltimore Orioles. He is 6-1 in his career against the American League with a 1.27 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 13 appearances.

Baltimore Orioles vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

With Corbin Burnes on the hill, the Milwaukee Brewers are -170 favorites with the total set at 8 runs for this Interleague contest. It seems like runs will be at a premium based on the low total and the pedigree of both starting pitchers. Both teams have struggled to score runs consistently.

The only issue I have with the full game under is lack of trust in the Baltimore bullpen. Let’s back the strength of the these aces and take under four runs in the first five innings.

Official Play: Under 4 Runs F5 (First Five Innings)
