Shohei Ohtani (LAD) +320
Ohtani and his power need no introduction, and tonight is a great night to back the slugger. Ohtani has 11 home runs this season, and he is destroying baseball with an absurdly high hard-hit rate. Tonight, he gets an amazing matchup against the Padres. Ohtani is batting .391 against right-handed pitching, and eight of his 11 homers have come off a righty. Ohtani is 4-9 in his career off of Michael King with three home runs and a double, and we expect him to hit the long ball again, making this one of the best home run prop bets on the board.
Last season, in a mix of relief and start appearances, King allowed four of his ten home runs to lefties, and this season, he has allowed four of his ten home runs to lefties. King is a rising stud, but he is susceptible to the long ball. We are backing the best hitter on the planet to catch King today at his home stadium.
Marcus Semien (TEX) +550
Marcus Semien has been hitting the ball well this season, and he has been hitting for power. Semien went yard twice this past series, and he has seven home runs this season. Two of his seven home runs have come off of left-handed pitchers, and today at Coors Field, he certainly has a chance to hit his eighth of the year.
Austin Gomber has allowed seven home runs so far this season, and though Semeien does not have a great history against him, we are riding the hot bat. Semien is 0-5 against Gomber, but he has an average exit velocity of 83.2 MPH and a launch angle of 27.4. This is his firs time facing Gomber in Colorado, so based on Semien’s ability to beat up lefties and the form he is in, this is one of the best home run prop bets of the day.
