Jose Altuve (HOU) +425
Jose Altuve has been hitting very well to start the season, and tonight he has a matchup he has performed well against in his career. In nine at-bats against Guardians’ pitcher Triston McKenzie, Altuve is 5-9 with two home runs and two doubles. His average exit velocity is 94.3 miles per hour, and his average launch angle on these hits is 22.7 degrees. Altuve has hit seven home runs so far this season, and six have come against righties, making this a great home run prop bets to wager on.
After struggling to start the season, Triston McKenzie has pitched better recently. However, in a limited sample, he has been much worse on the road this season, with an ERA over ten and a 2.70 HR/9. McKenzie has yet to allow a home run to a right-handed batter, but he allowed his only home run in 10 innings of work last season to a righty. Based on Altuve’s history against McKenzie, this is one of the best home run prop bets to make today.
Javy Baez (DET) +900
Javy Baez has been hitting well so far this season, and today, he faces a pitcher he has done well against. When Baez struggles, he cannot make contact as he frequently chases pitches outside of the zone. Miles Mikolas has allowed one of the highest contact rates in baseball, so Baez should be able to avoid striking out. Baez is 5-20 with two home runs against Mikolas in his career.
Baez has just one home run this season, but Mikolas has already allowed six. Four of those six home runs were to right-handed batters. Given the history here, this is one of the best home run prop bets to make today.
