Blue Jays vs Yankees Analysis
The scorching hot New York Yankees come to the Rogers Centre in search of a three game sweep against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.
The Yankees thumped the Blue Jays 9-1 on Tuesday to give them 11 straight victories. The Jays will be looking to salvage a game after officially losing their first series of the season yesterday.
It will be a battle of southpaws with Nestor Cortes getting the nod for New York and Yusei Kikuchi pitching for Toronto. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM EST.
Jays Aim To End Homestand On a High Note
After losing two straight games to the New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays record sits at 15-10 good for 2nd place in the American League East. There is no shame in losing to the Yankees with them being the hottest team in the league and up until this point the Jays had never lost a series.
The Blue Jays lost 9-1 yesterday, wasting a strong outing from Alek Manoah. He threw six innings while only allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven. The bullpen ended up letting the game out of control over the course of the final three innings with Adam Cimber taking the loss.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr had two doubles and Bo Bichette had two hits and the teams only RBI. Yusei Kikuchi might be the the wrong Toronto starter look towards to end a losing streak.
Kikuchi is 0-1 with a 5.52 ERA and 1.91 WHIP. Some concerns, he hasn’t made it into the 6th inning and he has walked 13 batters in only 14.2 innings pitched.
Yanks Bring Bats & Brooms to Toronto
The New York Yankees can’t be stopped right now, you can only hope to contain them. They have now platted seven runs per game over their last six games. On the season, the Yanks average 4.9 runs per game which is the most in the league.
Aaron Judge led the offensive attack yesterday, going 2 for 5 with a homerun and three RBI. Starting pitcher Jameson Taillon kept the Jays bats at bay, throwing six innings and allowing only one earned run on five hits.
The Yankees have also pitched brilliantly as they rank 3rd in team ERA. Nestor Cortes gets the nod today, he has done solid job limiting the opposition in all four of his starts. On the season, he has a 1-0 record, 1.31 ERA and 0.87 WHIP.
Blue Jays vs Yankees Prediction
The money line is set at -145 for the New York Yankees and +125 for the Toronto Blue Jays with a total set at 8.5. The Yankees are on a win streak that you don’t want to step in front of right now.
The Jays have lost all four of Kikuchi’s starts and there is no reason to back him here. Multiple Yankee sluggers have had success at plate against Kikuchi and that should continue tonight. It’s close to my limit of -150 on a money line, but let’s ride this streak with the Yankees on the money line.
Prediction: New York Yankees Moneyline -140
