Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays Analysis

The Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox face off for the 2nd game of a three game series from Guaranteed Rate Field. The White Sox prevailed in a 8-7 slugfest yesterday to take an early series lead.

The struggling righty Kevin Gausman gets the nod for Toronto, while Dylan Cease toes the rubber for Chicago. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 PM.

Jays Keep Slugging

The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the best offensive units in the league as the rank 3rd with a .752 OPS while scoring 4.56 runs per game. They seven runs in a loss yesterday as Teoscar Hernandez went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI.

The pitching fell short as Jose Berrios was hammered for six earned runs on nine hits in only four innings of work. The Jays occupy second place in the American League East with a 38-29 record. The veteran righty Kevin Gausman will start for Toronto.

After an amazing season start, Gausman has hit a rough patch. His last start was his worst of the season as he allowed 7 runs (5 earned) on seven hits in only 2.1 innings pitched.

Cease Set To Assist a Victory

The Chicago White Sox held on for 8-7 victory as they outlasted the Toronto Blue Jays. The thumping designated hitter Andrew Vaughn had a day as he went 4 for 4 with a home run and two RBI.

Outfielder Luis Robert also went 2 for 4 with a blast. It wasn’t a pretty outing for Lance Lynn as he allowed three earned runs on four hits in only five innings.

The Pale Hose offensive attack has fallen well short of expectations as they rank 22nd with .684 OPS while only scoring 4.17 runs a game.

Dylan Cease has been rock solid for Chicago with a 5-3 record and 2.91 ERA. Cease threw five scoreless innings as he scattered seven hits in his most recent outing against the Detroit Tigers.

Chicago White Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

The Toronto Blue Jays enter this contest as -130 road favorites, while the Chicago White Sox sit at +110 with a total of 9. Kevin Gausman has been the Jays most reliable starter, but he has been dealing with some major regression recently.

Dylan Cease has been filthy this season and he will be facing a potent Jays lineup. The Toronto lineup can obviously be explosive, while the White Sox have fallen shy of expectations.

However, leadoff man Tim Anderson has returned and provided a spark plug as they scored 8 runs yesterday. The bullpens are rated as a wash in this contest.

The Jays definitely have an advantage in the hitting department, but I’m much more confident in Cease limiting Toronto than I am in Gausman right now. It’s not my most confident play on the board, but I will roll with the +110 underdogs in this one.

Prediction: Chicago White Sox +110
