Cleveland Guardians vs Minnesota Twins Analysis

The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Guardians meet for the fourth game of a rare five game series from Progressive Field on Wednesday evening. The Twins lead the series 2-1 after winning on Monday and splitting a doubleheader yesterday.

They currently hold a three game lead over the Guardians in the American League Central. Dylan Bundy will get the nod for Minnesota, while Cleveland hands the ball to Cal Quantrill. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST/4:10 PST.

Guardians & Quantrill Hope To Gain Ground

The Cleveland Guardians won the matinee game of the doubleheader 3-2 but ultimately ended up with a split. Zach Plesac put his team on his back with six scoreless innings of work.

Shortstop Amed Rosario went 3 for 4 with two RBI. Winning the next two games could go a long way for the Guardians as they could end the series only one game behind Minnesota in the Central.

Cleveland needs to improve offensively as they rank 20th in scoring, 19th in on-base percentage and 18th in slugging percentage. Jose Ramirez carries the team as he leads them in hits with 76, homeruns with 16 and RBI with 63.

The 27 year-old righty Cal Quantrill will toe the rubber for Cleveland on Wednesday night. He is 4-4 on the season with a 3.76 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. He gave his team a shot against the Red Sox with five innings of two run baseball.

Twins Bundy Looks For Another Strong Outing

The Minnesota Twins continued to fend off the Cleveland Guardians as they won the nightcap of a a doubleheader 6-0. The young righty Josh Winder threw six scoreless innings and the bullpen completed the shutout.

Byron Buxton, Jose Miranda and Jorge Polanco all had homeruns. Minnesota has a three game lead on Cleveland and they have an opportunity to widen the gap.

Their offense has carried them as they rank 11th in runs, 7th in batting average, 4th in on-base percentage and 7th in slugging percentage. This sounds strange but Dylan Bundy looks for a third straight stellar outing.

In his last two outings against interleague rivals Arizona and Colorado he only allowed two runs across a combined 14 innings of work. On the season, Bundy is 4-4 with a 4.80 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.

Cleveland Guardians vs Minnesota Twins Prediction

This game is basically a pick’em as the Cleveland Guardians money line is set at -115 while the Minnesota Twins sit at -105 with a total of 8.5.

These teams are so evenly matched its no surprise that they are only separated by a few games in the American League Central. Both starters have had success against the opposing lineup and both teams have solid bullpens.

Four of the last five head-to-head contests in Cleveland have went under the total. I’m going to look towards the under here, but only for a small play as it’s not my favorite play on the board.

Prediction: Under 9 Total Runs Scored
