Diamondbacks vs Giants Expert Betting Advice
This is the first series between these divisional rivals in the 2023 campaign. In 2022, the Diamondbacks won 10 of 19 meetings against the San Francisco. Both sides enjoyed home cooking as Arizona went 6-3 at Chase Field while the Giants went 6-4 at Oracle Park.
This series will feature exclusively right-handed starting pitching outside of southpaw Tommy Henry starting Game 1 for the Diamondbacks.
We should see plenty of fireworks late in these games as these bullpens rank 25th & 28th in ERA while allowing the 4th & 5th most home runs in the MLB respectively.
San Francisco has the stronger starter in Game 1, however the Giants have struggled to hit southpaws so we’ll pass on that game.
Game 2 sets up very nicely for a full game over as both starters are righties and these teams rank 3rd & 6th in ISO against right-handed pitching. Ryne Nelson has allowed 38 hits and 22 runs in only 31 innings pitched while Ross Stripling has allowed 32 hits and 19 runs in only 25.2 innings of work.
Stripling has seen most of his action of out of the bullpen and hasn’t seen the 6th inning this season. Take the over in Game 2.
Game 3 features the best pitching matchup as Gallen and DeSclafani have both been strong in 2023 and both have great track records against the opposing lineup. Go under on the first five innings of Game 3 as we don’t want these bullpens to be involved.
Webb will have the edge on Pfaadt in Game 4 who has only two career starts. Pfaadt has allowed 13 runs on 16 hits across only 9.2 innings with game scores of 20 & 30.
The Giants would be the direction to look in Game 4, but I prefer the looks in games 2 and 3 as the money line could be through the roof.
