Expert MLB Props for Wednesday: Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers Over 2.5 (+105)

Shohei Ohtani has only cleared this line in 5 of 13 games this season (38%) but this is an ideal spot for us to fire our first over 2.5 HRR line in 2025 at a +105 price.

First off, Ohtani has gone 3-6 (.500) with a double against toady’s starting pitcher Jake Irvin. Irvin hasn’t looked sharp with 6 earned runs allowed on hits including two home runs across 10 innings in his first two starts.

He was absolutely smashed in his lone home start against the Dodgers last season where he allowed 6 earned runs on a staggering 12 hits across only 4.1 innings of work.

Mookie Betts bats directly behind Ohtani and he’s gone 4-9 against Irvin followed by Teoscar Hernanadez who’s gone 2-7 with a home run and double against Irvin.

Los Angeles has lost three straight games, and they will be anxious to get back in the win column before returning home for a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs.

Ohtani will be leading off on the road where he can maximize his at-bats against vulnerable starter and exhausted bullpen. 

Expert MLB Props for Wednesday: Jarren Duran, Red Sox Over 1.5 (-145)

Jarren Duran has only covered this line in 5 of 12 games this season but he has gone over in 3 of his last 5 games.

Now he’s facing Kevin Gausman who he’s gone 7-19 (.368) against with a home run and five doubles. Gausman hasn’t looked great thus far with 5 earned runs allowed across 11.1 innings including two home runs.

Rafael Devers is also projected to bat behind Duran in the Red Sox lineup and he’s gone 9-30 (.300) with a home run and five doubles against Gausman.

Gausman has been known to pitch better on the road but that doesn’t include Fenway Park where he allowed four runs (3 ER) across six innings pitched last June.

The wind will be blowing out the at 10 MPH and Duran is still looking for his first dinger in the 2025 campaign.

We are paying the extra juice as Duran bats leadoff with potent lineup behind him that got three looks at Gausman last season.
