Hitter Prop Prediction 1: Jose Altuve

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve finished the regular season with a .311 batting average, 17 home runs, 51 RBI, 76 runs scored and 14 stolen bases across 409 plate appearances after missing approximately two months of the season.

Altuve has struggled early on in the postseason with a .200 batting average (6-30) two home runs and only two RBI.

However, his bat came alive last night with a 2-5 game where he hit one of those home runs. He has also thrived against tonight opposing starting pitcher Andrew Heaney, going 12-37 (.324) with two home runs and five doubles.

Heaney posted a 10-6 record during the 2023 campaign with a 4.15 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 151 strikeouts across 147.2 innings of work. He only lasted 3.2 innings in his only postseason action in a game against the Baltimore Orioles where he allowed one run on two hits.

Heaney faced the Astros four times during the regular season and struggled in the last two outings where he allowed a combined 6 runs on 9 hits across only 9.2 innings pitched. Altuve and Astros have thrived against left-handed pitching all season long and they have preferred to play on the road.

That continued with 8 runs in Texas last night after only scoring a combined four runs in the prior two home games. Look for those trends to continue tonight with an Altuve over 1.5 HRR.

The Prop Pick: Jose Altuve OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-130)

Hitter Prop Prediction 2: Mitch Garver OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105)

Texas Rangers catcher and designated hitter Mitch Garver batted .270 during the regular season with 19 home runs and 50 RBI across 390 plate appearances.

The Rangers have been able to get both Garver and Jonah Heim into their postseason lineup, utilizing one at catcher and the other at DH.

Garver is only hitting .238 (5-21) in the postseason but he does have a home run and 8 RBI. More importantly, he has recorded 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in 4 of 6 playoff games.

Houston Astros starting pitcher Jose Urquidy posted a 3-3 record during the regular season with a 5.29 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and only 45 strikeouts across 63 innings of work.

He pitched 5.2 innings against the Minnesota Twins while allowing two runs on three hits in his only postseason appearance. Garver is 1-3 (.333) against Urquidy with the hit being a solo blast.

The Rangers will be fighting to keep control of this series and avoid going back to Houston tied 2-2. Look for Garver to come up clutch with an over 1.5 HRR at plus money.
