Hitter Prop Prediction 1: Javier Baez Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-165)

Detroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez is in the midst of the worst season of his decade long career as he’s hitting only .219 with eight home runs and 54 RBI across 475 plate appearances.

He has fallen short of recording 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in his last four games and 56 of 118 games on the season for a 56% success rate to the under.

New York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole is 11-4 on the season with a 2.95 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 181 strikeouts across 168 innings of work.

He was lights out in his last outing, holding the Tampa Bay Rays to only two runs (one earned) on three hits across 7.2 innings while striking out 11. Cole has baffled Baez throughout his career, holding him to 3-20 (.150) with only one home run with eight strikeouts.

The Detroit Tigers have scored only 13 runs in their last five games and only three runs in the first two games of this series. Baez will be hard-pressed to clear this total based on his track recent track record and struggles against Cole, making him worthy of a small play despite the odds.

Hitter Prop Prediction 2: Mitch Garver Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-130)

Texas Rangers starting catcher Mitch Garver is batting .279 during the 2023 campaign with 13 home runs and 36 RBI across 229 plate appearances despite missing most of April and all of May.

August has easily been his most productive month of the season as he’s currently batting .317 with eight home runs and 16 RBI across 94 plate appearances.

Garver has recorded 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in his last four contests while hitting a home run in four of his last 6 games. He has been a New York Mets killer throughout his career, going 12-24 with five home runs including hitting a long ball against them last night.

Denyi Reyes will serve as the spot starter after the original starter Carlos Carrasco was sent to waivers yesterday.

Reyes made his first appearance since May last week and was hammered for five earned runs on eight hits across only 4.1 innings of work. Garver has been so hot at the dish that he has shorter home run odds than a slugger like Marcus Semien tonight at +285 odds.

While I do think the home run is worth a sprinkle, we will make the main play an over on his HRR tonight at -130 odds.
