Hitter Prop Prediction 1: Kole Calhoun OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-135)

Cleveland Guardians designated hitter Kole Calhoun doesn’t have a pretty stat line with a .239 batting average, five home runs and 20 RBI across 149 plate appearances after two months of MLB action.

However, he has recorded 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in three of his last four games with two home runs in the last week. Calhoun has teed off on Kansas Royals starting pitcher Zack Greinke, going 12-25 (.480) with two home runs and five RBI.

Greinke has hit rock bottom in 2023 with a 1-15 record, 5.39 ERA and .288 OBA across 128.2 innings of work. He has really struggled with longevity, lasting only 2. 3.2 and 3.2 innings in his last three outings.

That could be an issue as the Royals bullpen ranks 28th with 5.21 ERA while allowing the 5th most home runs. Calhoun bats 4th in the Guardians lineup, giving him opportunities to drive in runs behind hitters like Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan.

This is a matinee game and Calhoun hits .264 during the day compared to .222 at night. Everything lines up perfectly for Calhoun to give us some afternoon cash on an over 1.5 HRR at -135 odds.

Hitter Prop Prediction 2: Ian Happ OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+100)

Chicago Cubs left fielder Ian Happ is batting .246 during the 2023 campaign with 18 home runs, 73 RBI and 80 runs scored across 640 plate appearances.

Happ has recorded 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in each of his last five games while going 9-21 (.428) with a home run and four runs scored in the process.

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Mitch Keller has a 12-9 record with a 4.04 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 198 strikeouts across 182.2 innings of work.

He was lights out in his last outing with eight scoreless innings against the Washington Nationals but was hammered by the Atlanta Braves as he allowed eight runs in only five innings in the prior start.

Keller also threw eight scoreless innings against the Cubs on August 25th in a game where Happ finished 2-4 after hitting what proved to be a meaningless home run in the 9th.

Happ has gotten the better of Keller throughout his career, going 8-19 (.421) with two home runs, two doubles and five walks.

Happ generally leads off and with his track record against Keller it’s hard to envision him in any other spot in the order. Regardless, he will be in a spot where he has multiple chances to both score and drive in runs, making im worthy of a play at even odds.
