Home Run Prop Picks, Predictions and Odds 5/23

Ronald Acuna Jr. of Braves hits home run

Daily MLB Home Run Prop Bets

Eleven games were decided by three runs or less yesterday in which included a few games going extra innings. Will we have the same amount of excitement today? WagerTalk content contributor Kyle Kargel provides his home run prop picks and predictions for Monday, May 23 with odds provided by FanDuel.

Home Run Prop Prediction 1: Jonathon Schoop (+450)

The Tigers have been atrocious on offense this season and that’s an understatement. They’re dead last in the MLB in runs scored at 110 which is 23 behind the Pirates for second to last.

Jonathon Schoop is tied for second in home runs on the team with three and tonight presents a spot for Schoop and the Tigers to put some runs on the board against Chris Archer and the Twins. In his career Schoop is 12-35 with six home runs which is a far cry from his current season average of .161.

This pick may be a stretch for some but considering Schoop’s comfortability facing Archer and the fact Archer has given up five home runs in his last five starts, this is the best shot Schoop has had to hit a home run in a long time at +450.

Home Run Prop Prediction 2: Ronald Acuña Jr. (+380)

Ronald Acuña Jr. just got his season going less than a month ago and has not presented the power so far we thought he was capable of. He only has two home runs in 15 games and is currently on a three game hitting streak.

His splits so far this season though show that he prefers playing in night games at home which is what we have tonight with the Braves and Phillies starting at 7:20 PM ET.

Zach Wheeler starts for Philadelphia tonight who has been stellar as of late, but Acuña Jr. possesses some pretty good numbers against him. He’s 8-28 with three home runs. Also, in Wheeler’s two road starts, he has a 10.80 ERA which gives us suspicions he could go off the rails again tonight playing at Truist Park in Atlanta.

Acuña Jr. is used to putting up MVP caliber numbers on offense and he needs to start building his power numbers to be in that conversation again come the end of the year.

At +380 you could do worse for a MVP type player used to putting up 25+ home runs a year, going against a starter with an ERA over 10 so far this season.
