Home Run Prop Prediction 1: Christian Walker (+260)
Christian Walker has had quietly had a solid season besides not keeping his average consistent. He’s hitting .200 but is in the top 10 in the MLB in home runs with 19 on the season so far.
As everyone knows by now I like to target hitters playing at Coors Field and this is no exception as the Rockies and Diamondbacks kick off a series tonight with Colorado sending Antonio Senzatela to the mound.
Walker posts great splits against Senzatela going 10-21 all-time against him with two home runs. He’s firmly entrenched as the Diamondbacks cleanup hitter with nine of his 19 home runs coming on the road.
An oddity about Walker’s splits include a .238 batting average during night games opposed to a .150 average during day games. This game will be a night game at Coors Field starting at 6:15pm MT.
Walker is +260 to hit a home run but other Diamondbacks hitters who post solid splits against Senzatela include Josh Rojas (+650) and Ketel Marie (+390).
Home Run Prop Prediction 2: Pete Alonso (+220)
The Mets need to turn their mini slump around after two straight losses to the Astros at home in which they only scored one run total! This is very uncharacteristic of them and Pete Alonso is salivating at the matchup he has tonight in Glenn Otto and the Texas Rangers.
Otto posts a 5.31 ERA and is significantly worse against right handed hitting than left allowing righties to hit .295 and lefties to hit .200 on the season in almost equal amount of at-bats each.
His ERA has gone up each month from 2.89 in April to 10.29 in June. Alonso has 22 home runs on the season and is well on pace to break last season’s total of 37.
He’s one of the most consistent home run hitters in the game today which is why he’s listed at +220 so if you’re looking for another Mets hitter to help turn things around consider Starling Marie (+550) or Mark Canha (+650).
