Today’s MLB Home Run Prop Bets For August 12

Home Run Prop Prediction 1: Juan Soto (+350)

It seems like the Padres bats have been heating up the past couple games scoring 20 runs combined after just scoring only seven runs in their previous five games before.

They head cross country to take on the Nationals who will be sending Cory Abbott to the mound who has allowed five home runs in just 12.2 innings pitched so far this season.

This will be Juan Soto’s first game back in Washington since he was traded so why not roll with him to hit one out of Nationals Park since he’s so familiar with the territory.

In his last two games Soto is 4-8 with a home run after going just 6-20 with no home runs or RBIs in his first games after being acquired by the Padres.

You can probably throw the home/road splits out the window for this one as it might still feel like a home game for Soto but he does sport a .272 average against righties this season with 16 home runs. Soto wasn’t treated the best just before being traded by the Nationals so he’ll be out for revenge. There’s no saying how far Abbott will go in this game, but he’ll max out at 3-5 innings pitched.

The Nationals bullpen has given up the third most home runs of any bullpen in the MLB. Get Soto at +350 to hit a home run but other Padres hitters to consider are Manny Machado (+260) hitting .320 in the last week or other new Padre Brandon Drury (+350) who hit a three-run home run in their last game.

Home Run Prop Prediction 2: Anthony Rizzo (+370)

The Yankees continue to struggle on their road trip only winning one game so far in six games against the Cardinals and Mariners. They continue their trip to Fenway Park to take on the Red Sox who will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound tonight.

In two starts against the Yankees this season Eovaldi has pitched 9.1 innings allowing three home runs and six earned runs in total. He sports a 6.81 ERA allowing 10 home runs in 35.2 innings at home coming out to a home run allowed every 3.5 innings or so.

We’re going with Anthony Rizzo who is 6-12 all-time against Eovaldi with a home run coming on opening day and recently had a four game home run streak come to an end. Rizzo is 8-27 against Boston this season with two home runs.

Get Rizzo at +370 but if you want to play it safe and go with the MLB home run leader Aaron Judge, get him at +195. If you want a more valuable option, consider DJ LeMahieu at +850.
