Home Run Prop Picks, Predictions and Odds 8/31/22
Today’s MLB Home Run Prop Bets For August 31
We hit with Salvador Perez yesterday as we look to make it two straight days picking a home run hitter. WagerTalk content contributor Kyle Kargel provides his daily home run prop picks and predictions for Wednesday, August 31 with odds provided by PointsBet.
Home Run Prop Prediction 1: Matt Olson (+240)
The Braves laid a dud last night but get a chance to rebound tonight against the Rockies who are sending out Ryan Feltner to the mound who has allowed one home run in five straight starts.
Matt Olson has hit six home runs this month as well as a home run off Feltner earlier this season. In that start against the Braves, Feltner went three innings allowing six earned runs.
He sports a 6.19 road ERA this season including six home runs allowed in 32 innings pitched coming out to one allowed every five innings or so. Olson has an outside chance to hit his 39 home run total he had last season, but he’d at least like to get to 35.
Get Olson at +240 while other Braves hitters to consider turning up the power tonight are Travis D’arnaud (+400) who has a home run off Feltner and Dansby Swanson (+300).
Home Run Prop Prediction 2: Sean Murphy (+320)
Normally I wouldn’t suggest any Athletics hitter to hit a home run but playing at Nationals Park against Anibal Sanchez, it’s hard to ignore this opportunity for hitters on the team.
The Athletics have actually won 3-straight games with partial thanks to catcher Sean Murphy who went 3-5 with a home run and five RBIs last night against the Nationals. He’s hitting .330 this month with five home runs and 17 RBIs.
He’s hit a home run in back-to-back games already twice this season so why not make it a third time in this nice matchup. Sanchez has a 7.65 home ERA this season giving up seven home runs in 20 innings pitched. Murphy hits .294 on the road compared to .218 at home and 11 of his 17 home runs have also come on the road as well.
Murphy is listed at +320 to hit a home run, but other Athletics hitters with some value include Dermis Garcia (+480) and Stephen Vogt (TBD) if he plays who has a home run off Sanchez in his career.
