Home Run Prop Prediction 1: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+430)

It’s now or never for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays as they could potentially still lose their AL Wildcard sitting 1.5 games ahead.

Gerrit Cole takes the mound in most likely his last start of the 2023 season in which he’s the front runner to win the AL Cy Young Award. Guerrero Jr. has actually seen solid success against Cole in his career going 10-28 with two home runs against the Yankees righty.

Cole’s last start actually came against this Blue Jays team in which he pitched eight shutout innings, but there is much more on the line this time around and all Blue Jays batters should be locked in including Guerrero Jr. who hit two home runs two games ago against Tampa Bay.

He’s batting .250 in September with six home runs as Cole has allowed righties to bat .221 compared to allowing lefties to bat .202 on the season.

With the Yankees not having anything to play for, focus for Cole could be off which could be cost him to give up a home run or two.

Take Guerrero Jr. to hit a home run at +430 with other Blue Jays to look at for a home run include Alejandro Kirk (+900) who is 8-19 with a home run in his career vs Cole and Daulton Varsho (+500).

Home Run Prop Prediction 2: Manny Machado (+520)

Don’t count out the Padres just yet. They are technically still in the NL Wildcard race and must win their last four games at least to have a shot.

They’re 10-2 in their last 12 games with Manny Machado having much to do with that success. Lefty Sean Manaea takes the mound for the Giants tonight in which Machado is 5-14 with three doubles in his career.

Manaea allows righties to hit .247 against him while allowing seven of 13 home runs at home in nine less innings pitched than on the road this season.

Although his home ERA sits at 3.51, he has allowed a 7.11 ERA to the Padres across three starts on the season. Machado bats .300 against lefties with a .508 slugging percentage and has hit .310 this month with five home runs.

He’s also batting .341 with four home runs against the Giants this season. Those four home runs are the most against any single team in the MLB in 2023 as well.

Take Machado to hit a home run at +520 with other Padres to consider for a home run are Fernando Tatis Jr. (+370) and Xander Bogaerts (+680) who is 6-13 with a home run all-time against Manaea.
