Daily K-Prop Prediction: Kyle Gibson Under 4.5 K’s (+100)
Kyle Gibson has had issues against Texas, striking out just 14 batters in 70 AB’s. In recent starts, Gibson has struck out less than 5 batters in 3 of his last 4 starts on the road and overall.
He has struck out just 19 left handed batters in 132 AB’s, posting a K% of just 13.2%, while he has struck out right handed batters at a rate of over 25%.
While that may seemingly benefit Gibson in multiple situations, when you look at the line-up for the Rangers, it looks as though their batting order will consist of just 3 RH batters.
Even though Texas has struck out a decent amount in recent games, when you look at the Detroit series, they struck out 33 times in 4 games.
Yet, of those 33 strikeouts in 36 innings, just 18 were tallied by RHP in 24 ⅔ innings. The majority percentage of the strikeouts came against LHP from Detroit, 15 K’s in just 11.1 IP.
They struck out at a rate of just 6.57 times per 9 innings against RHP, striking out at a noticeably higher rate against LHP, skewing their recent numbers.
