Kansas City Royals vs Chicago White Sox Analysis

The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals meet for the third game of a four game series from Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday evening.  They split a double-header yesterday with Kansas City winning the matinee game 4-2 and the White Sox stealing the nightcap 3-2.

The Royals will give the ball to the 24 year-old lefty Kris Bubic, while the crafty veteran Johnny Cueto gets the nod for Chicago.  First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 PM EST/5:10 PST.

Bubic Takes The Mound

The Kansas City Royals record landed on 45-66 after splitting yesterday’s doubleheader. They won the early game 4-2 behind 7.1 innings of one run baseball from Brady Singer. He struck out six and walked none while scattering five hits. First baseman Nick Pratto went 3 for 4 with a two run bomb.

The Royals are currently 5-5 across their last 10 games. They have fought hard despite being sellers at the trade deadline and moving key players like Andrew Benintendi and Whit Merrifield.

However they do struggle offensively as they rank 24th in runs scored. Up and down starter Kris Bubic toes the rubber for Kansas City on Wednesday. He is 2-6 with a 5.27 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. However, he has dominated current White Sox hitters as they are a combined 12-83 against him for a .160 batting average and .555 OPS.

White Sox Fight For Playoff Position

The Chicago White Sox record landed on 56-54 after splitting yesterday’s doubleheader. They won the nightcap 3-2 as starter Davis Martin tossed 5.2 innings of one run baseball.

Eloy Jimenez went 3 for 3 and Yoan Moncada launched his 6th blast of the season. The Pale Hose currently 1.5 games behind the MinnesotaTwins & Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central and 2.5 games out of a Wild Card spot.

The White Sox lineup ranks 5th in batting average but only 18th in runs scored. A big issue is their lack of power as they rank only 27th in home runs. The 36 year-old veteran Johnny Cueto will take the hill for Chicago on Wednesday evening.

He has been solid this season with 4-5 record, 2.91 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He has been stellar on the road with a 3-2 record and 2.00 ERA.

Kansas City Royals vs Chicago White Sox Prediction

The Chicago White Sox enter this game as favorites with a -140 money line, while the Kansas City Royals sit at +120 with a total of 8.5. Low scoring games have been the theme of this head-to-head series as 10 of 12 games have fallen short of this total.

Bubic has had issues at home but has dominated this White Sox lineup and now they don’t have their spark plug in Tim Anderson.

Cueto has been lights out at home and should be able to keep a lid on the watered-down KC lineup. These teams struggle offensively as they rank 18th & 24th in scoring. All signs point towards another under tonight.

Prediction: Under 8.5 Runs Scored
