New York Yankees vs Houston Astros Analysis
The Houston Astros meet with the New York Yankees to begin a four game series amongst American League divisional leaders.
The Astros swept a two game mini set against another divisional leader in the New York Mets yesterday. The Yankees took home another series victory as they took two of three from the Tampa Bay Rays.
We have showdown between two of A.L.’s top starters as the lefty Framber Valdez gets the nod for Houston and the right-handed Jameson Taillon toes the rubber for New York. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM EST/4:05 PST from Yankee Stadium.
Empire State of Mind Betting Preview
That’s three straight series where a division rival came to gain ground on the New York Yankees, only to fall short and end up leaving further behind them.
The Yanks took home another series victory as they stormed back for a 5-4 victory. Aaron Judge was hands down player of the game with two solo jacks.
The southpaw Jordan Montgomery kept them in the game with six innings of four run baseball. This Yankee offensive attack is on a different level, top five usually top two across the board statistically.
Jameson Taillon will be looking to keep the wheels moving. He is 8-1 with a 2.70 ERA & 1.05 WHIP on the season. Taillon has an impressive ability to limit walks, he has only allowed 9 free passes in 73.1 innings of work.
The Bronx Bombers were obviously the quickest team to blast through 50 wins as they are now 51-18 on the season.
Houston Set For Showdown
The Houston Astros have the best record in the majors, outside of a team that resides in New York. At 43-25, they lead the American League West by ten games over the Texas Rangers.
The pulled off a two game sweep at the expense of the New York Mets after jumping out in front and never looking back in a 5-3 victory. Similar to Judge, Yordan Alvarez had two solo bombs of his own.
Luis Garcia hurled five innings and held the Mets to three runs. The Astros are right up there with the Yankees offensively in categories like home runs or slugging percentage but below average in runs scored.
Framber Valdez has been brilliant for the Astros with a 7-3 record, 2.78 ERA and 1.15 WHIP across 81 innings of work. He held the Chicago White Sox to three runs across six innings in his last outing.
New York Yankees vs Houston Astros Prediction
The New York Yankees are favored by -125 on the money line, while the Houston Astros sit at +105 with a total of 8. There isn’t much of an edge in this one with a side or total.
Two starting pitchers who rank neck-and-neck, backed by two of the top bullpens in the game. They literally rank #1 & #2 in bullpen ERA. Obviously the pinstripes have a slightly more potent lineup.
In my latest Yankees article I mentioned taking them whenever the money line has a reasonable price and it served me well. Give me the Yankees money line at -120.
Prediction: New York Yankees Moneyline -120
