NRFI Prediction 1: Twins vs Tigers (-111)
The Tigers have been good to us when playing on a NRFI so we’re going back to them tonight as Joey Wentz takes the mound for them hosting Kenta Maeda and the Twins tonight at 6:40pm ET.
These two just played a week ago with three of four games going to a NRFI. Wentz hasn’t allowed a first inning run in two of his previous three starts with the Twins not scoring in the first inning in nine straight before last night’s series finale against the Red Sox.
Maeda makes his first start since April 26th but hasn’t allowed a first inning run in three of four total starts on the season. Sure he’s been terrible this year in minimal time on the mound but the Tigers bats are still down overall on the season.
Detroit still ranks bottom five in batting average, OPS and OBP on the season. So look for Wentz and Maeda to take care of business in the first inning playing on a Twins vs Tigers NRFI with odds listed at -111.
NRFI Prediction 2: Athletics vs Blue Jays (-120)
The Athletics continue their east coast road trip in Toronto tonight, riding 8-straight losses into Toronto to take on the Blue Jays. Chris Bassitt takes the mound for Toronto who seems to have inherited teammate Jose Berrios’ road woes.
Luckily he’s been stellar at home sporting a 2.18 ERA and not allowing a first inning run in four straight starts overall.
The Athletics have played to a NRFI in 10 of their last 11 games and send James Kaprielian to the mound with a 6.38 ERA but in his last three starts he’s produced a 2.60 ERA. The Blue Jays have played to a NRFI in three straight with Kaprielian not allowing a first inning run in five of his last six starts.
Toronto is fourth worse in the MLB in first inning run scoring at home with Oakland coming in ninth worse across all games. Play on an Athletics vs Blue Jays NRFI tonight at -120 with first pitch coming at 7:07pm ET.
