Orioles vs Twins Analysis
The Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles wrap up a four game series from Camden Yards on Thursday night. The Orioles will be hoping for a split after a convincing 9-4 victory yesterday.
The Twins aim for a 3-1 series triumph after winning 2-1 and 7-2 in the first two games. The starting pitching matchup features Spenser Watkins for the Orioles and Chris Archer for the Twins. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM EST.
Twins Go For Series Victory
The Minnesota Twins record dropped to 15-10 after losing 9-4 yesterday against the Orioles. They currently sit at 1st place in America League Central with a 3.5 game lead on both the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox.
Dylan Bundy showed his true colors once again with a 3.2 inning performance with 9 earned runs allowed on 11 hits and two walks.
That’s two awful starts in a row from Bundy after he looked good in his first three. Carlos Correa hit a two run blast, making him the offensive standout. Minnesota is hitting the ball pretty well as they rank 12th in OPS while scoring 4.12 runs per game.
Chris Archer gets the nod for Minnesota, he hasn’t been able to pitch deep into games but has done a great job limiting the opposition.
Archer has a rock solid 2.93 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. He hasn’t factored into a decision yet as he hasn’t pitched more than four innings in any of his four starts.
Orioles Hope For Split
The Baltimore Orioles unloaded on the Minnesota Twins yesterday with a 9-4 beat down. Rookie starter Kyle Bradish threw four innings while allowing four runs on six hits and two walks. Leadoff man Cedric Mullins went 2 for 5 with a homerun and two RBI.
Baltimore improved their record to 9-16 but they are still sitting at last place in the American League East. The Orioles have struggled to score runs with an average of only 3.04 runs per game while ranking 26th in OPS. Spenser Watkins hopes to help his team earn a split for the series.
He has also maxed out around five innings, so his 2.55 ERA hasn’t factored into a decision yet. Watkins has really struggled in career at Camden Yards, he has a 1-4 record and 8.68 ERA in 11 appearances.
Orioles vs Twins Prediction
The money line is set at -155 for the Minnesota Twins and +135 for the Baltimore Orioles with a total of 8.5. Outside of yesterday’s loss the Twins have been on fire and their bats have been clicking.
The Twins are 37-16 in their last 53 games against the Orioles. Chris Archer should be able to shutdown the Orioles hitters who struggle to hit right-handed pitching at home with a .577 OPS. Look for the Twins to start another winning streak this evening.
We will take the Twins on the run line at +105. Camden Yards is a great hitting environment and since the Twins are the road we will be guaranteed a full nine innings of at bats.
Prediction: Minnesota Twins -1.5 -100
