Pitcher Prop Prediction 1: Sandy Alcantara Over 18.5 Outs (-120)
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara is in the middle of a disappointing season with a 3-8 record, 4.64 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and only 99 strikeouts across 120.1 innings pitched.
Alcantara hasn’t had an issue with longevity as he has logged 19+ outs in 6 of his last 9 outings. Current Cardinal sluggers are a combined 10-67 (.149 BA) against Alcantara with only one home run (by SP Steven Matz).
Key hitters like Nolan Arenado (1-14 4 Ks) and Paul Goldschmidt (2-16 6 Ks) have consistently struggled against Alcantara. The Marlins need a lengthy outing from Alcantara after needing to utilize five bullpen arms to pitch 4.2 innings last night and four relievers to throw four innings the night prior.
Miami is also on a five-game losing streak and “El Caballo” is their stopper and workhorse. Look for the fish to lean heavily on Alcantara in a plus matchup.
Pitcher Prop Prediction 2: Brayan Bello Over 18.5 Outs (+125)
Red Sox starting pitcher Brayan Bello has become the team’s most consistent starter with a 7-5 record, 3.14 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 75 strikeouts across 86 innings of work.
He has eclipsed 18.5 outs recorded in 5 of his last 6 starts book ended by two 18 out performances. Bello has a outstanding 55.6% groundball rate thanks to a dominant sinker that he uses 34.5% of the time.
The Oakland Athletics are middle of the pack in groundball rate against right-handed pitching, but rank bottom-five in wOBA, OPS, wRC+ and ISO. The Red Sox are coming off two straight bullpen games where they needed to utilize seven different arms.
They have won five straight series, and this is the rubber game of their three-game set with Oakland. Look for Boston to ride their newly found stopper to a victory with Bello recording at least an out in the 7th inning and cashing this ticket.
