Red Sox vs Yankees Prediction and Betting Odds July 7
Red Sox vs Yankees Betting Preview
The greatest rivalry in all of sports (in my opinion) will reconvene when the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox play the first of four games on Thursday night from Fenway Park. WagerTalk MLB handicapper Andy Lang offers his analysis of this AL East showdown.

Red Sox vs Yankees Analysis
The Yankees thumped the Pirates and earned a two game split, while the Red Sox lost the rubber match of a three game set against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Rookie Josh Winckowski gets the nod for Boston, while the Yanks start their veteran ace Gerrit Cole. The Red Sox will be hoping to chisel away at a 14-game disadvantage, while the Yankees look continue their dominant run.
Red Sox Reinforcements On The Horizon
The Boston Red Sox have cooled off since being baseballs hottest team for the past month and a half. They have cooled off, however reinforcements are on the way as their top two starters Chris Sale and Nathan Eovaldi return from injury. Not to far behind them will be Garrett Whitlock and Kike Hernandez, amazing what the Sox were able to pull off without those key players.
They lost the rubber match against the Tampa Bay Rays 7-1 yesterday. Big time rookie prospect Brayan Bello pitched four innings, while allowing four runs on six hits. J.D. Martinez had the Sox lone RBI. Rare for Boston to only score a run as they rank No. 1 in batting average and 8th in runs scored.
Another rookie, Josh Winckowski gets the starting pitching assignment for the Red Sox. He has a 3-2 record and 3.12 ERA across his first four starts. He held the Chicago Cubs to one run in six innings of work last time he pitched.
Unstoppable Yankees
At 59-23, the New York Yankees are easily baseballs top team. They lead the American League East by 14 games ahead of tonight’s opponent the Boston Red Sox.
After losing the first of two head-to-head games, the Bronx Bombers hammered the Pittsburgh Pirates 16-0 yesterday. Luis Severino hurled six scoreless innings for the victory. Six different Yankees had homeruns, including Aaron Judge who went 3 for 4 with a nail in the coffin grand slam. New York has a top-five if not top-two offense across the board, which isn’t surprising.
Yankee front man Gerrit Cole takes the mound in game one. He is 7-2 on the season with a 2.99 ERA and he held the Guardians to two runs in six innings last time out.
Red Sox vs Yankees Prediction
Gerrit Cole has been terrific for the most part, but the Red Sox are very familiar with him at this point. They feast on right handed pitching and should be able to do some damage against Cole. Same can be said for the Yankees against the rookie Winckowski. He’s been sharp but hasn’t dipped his toes into the pressure of this rivalry. Both teams are more than capable of putting up crooked numbers, especially at a hitter friendly venue like Fenway Park. I’m going over 9 runs in this contest.
Prediction: OVER 9 Runs
