Rockies vs Giants Analysis

The San Francisco Giants play the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in the last of a three game series. San Fran won last night’s game 10-7 and look to break out the brooms for a sweep, while the Rox hope to salvage a win at home. Right-hander Logan Webb takes the bump against southpaw Kyle Freeland.

Giants Preview

Logan Webb has been solid and consistent for San Francisco in his seven starts and 41 innings with a 5-1 record, 3.48 ERA, 1.33 WHIP with 28 strikeouts. His control is excellent, only giving up 11 walks and just one home run.

The Giants are doing what they did last year to win 107 games: Get solid pitching from the starters and bullpen, timely hitting from the lineup and not beat themselves with errors in the field or baserunning mistakes.

Manager Gabe Kapler seems to make the right moves more often than not, and he stays aggressive stealing bases – even when the Giants are ahead by multiple runs.

San Fran can also hit lefties pretty well with a 9th best OPS of .706, and they’re facing southpaw Kyle Freeland today.

Rockies Preview

While the Rockies had a promising start to the 2022 campaign, they’ve slipped back to how they played last year. Winning most games and hitting the ball well at home, struggling on the road, and giving up way too many hits and runs.

Starter Kyle Freeland has really struggled in 2022 with a 4.91 ERA and 1.58 WHIP through seven starts. They’re higher than his career numbers of 4.24 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, but his strikeout numbers are decent with 26 Ks in 36 innings of work.

But; the Denver native isn’t alone when it comes to Rockies pitching woes. The team ERA is Snoop Dogg-high, 29th in MLB at 5.09 – only better than the lowly Reds – and bullpen ERA is last at 5.43. Until their staff can find ways to miss more bats and lower hard contact, they’ll continue to struggle in 2022.

Rockies vs Giants Prediction

Some teams just seem to have another team’s number, that’s what it looks like with the Giants versus the Rockies. One team has a more talented roster, better pitching and comes through with timely hitting.

The other can hit the baseball really well, but can’t pitch a lick. Until the Rox can improve their pitching, I’ll continue to fade them – especially against San Francisco. Give me the Giants on the moneyline.

Prediction: San Francisco Giants Moneyline
